Look into my eyes. They are pools of misery.

  2. I certainly meant nothing sarcastic, paranoid or nasty. It just makes sense to treat party planning as a business. As a business owner I am surprised she is saying this is not a financial arrangement. I think that's odd. I can imagine why your ex did what he did-- there's a major and critical work effort involved and an adrenaline rush. But party planning? Once, maybe twice, and then do it as a business.

Did she say what her business is?

I don't recall her saying it was any of your business...

HAHAHAAHA Curtis you cracked me up!

Why is what she's doing any different than what we are doing putting a game night together?

There's hiking clubs, parent groups, rowing clubs, dog agility events, walking clubs, lose weight groups, poker clubs, cat groups, contra dancing events, billiards tournaments. Someone started all of those.

And I didn't get the impression she is new here but regardless, I don't think that makes a difference.

And not that it matters but he isn't my ex. He's my late.

(shrug) She sounds well intentioned. A good attribute for a business owner, frankly.

I like the back bar. The food is tasty, the drinks are good. The wife and I like to go there when we get a date night. She is a francophile so that is part of the reason. But I also like croque monsieur and rare lamb burgers with aioli.

The social sounded fun. Wish we could have made it.

And the bartenders at the Bastille are actually friendly. Something I can't say for a lot of bars here.

Thanks for the reports, Phoo and LIA. Sounds like it was fun. Guess the back bar is no longer a Ballard secret; we used to go there when it first opened but it's packed now, especially on weekends.

I'd like to go to the next one but must admit, I'm a little wary of meeting up with strangers. I went to a get-together years ago organized by a forum and met someone there who turned out to be unhinged and a stalker.

Olives in a screwdriver - that sounds interesting. I like Salty Screw. That's some good branding there.

Whoa, Nelly, I may be unhinged, but I am no stalker...

That's the thing, LIA. The creepers often look perfectly normal. Did you see the photo of the 17-year-old arrested for the kidnapping and murder of the 10-year-old girl in Colorado? It was in the news today. Completely regular-looking kid. Chilling.

I just saw the add on the homepage since last time it seemed we found out last minute. This is decent fair warning to plan if anyone is interested in going.
