Not that any one asked or is interested, but my Andy (known here as Alferd Packer) died suddenly on a business trip of a brain aneurysm this summer. Never made it to senior citizenhood. A bit of a curmudgeon on the forum, but a heart of gold in real life. Relish who, and what you have while you can.

Please accept my condolences Shelley. I am so very sorry to hear this. He was a positive and funny voice here and is missed. Thank you for letting us know.
Earlier this year he asked where to find used wine barrel planters. He related a funny story about getting them home in the thread. http://www.myballard.com/forum/topic.php?id=13649 After that, every time I'd see a pile of large planters for sale, I'd think about his story and smile.

shelley - so sad to read your post, my condolences to you and the family.
AP was a good contributor to the Forum and I was always curious of his choice of Avatar and name, I had to look up Alferd Packer to find out the grim details! Quite amusing and interesting. Wish I had met Andy as he sounded like a good character.Posted 6 months ago # -
Shelley, I'm saddened to hear the news, but do appreciate your posting. I always enjoyed reading "Alferd's" posts and thought someone with an avatar like his must be interesting in person as well.

Shelley, I am so sorry to hear about Andy. Alferd's avatar kind of gave me the creeps, but he always seemed like a good guy.
Thanks for posting this; it probably wasn't an easy thing to write.

Shelley, I had wondered where he was. He was a delightfully quirky individual (seriously, anybody with his user name had to be) and I greatly enjoyed his presence. This can't have been easy for you during this time - please take care of yourself and I am so sorry for your loss.

How odd - I was just wondering the other day where he was - he was always a balancing and light-hearted influence here - terribly sorry to hear that it wasn't a "good news" reason for his absence - our thoughts, however belated, are with you and your family Shelley - he's missed.

Oh no - I am so so sorry Shelley. I enjoyed Alferd immensely; I think you live very close to me so we shared some Hillbilly moments on the forum. Take care and please keep in touch.

I'm awfully sorry, Shelley. Thank you so much for telling us here. So often people disappear from online forums. You assume they just got busy with real life or something.
I'm glad he got a little time to enjoy the glasses-free vision after the cataract surgery. You must miss him terribly.

Shelly, so sorry to hear this. As a CO native I knew who Alfred Packer was and always thought it was a neat historical reference to use as an online persona. It's sad to hear that he was away from you and his friends and family at the time of his passing. He will be missed on MB, and I'm sure IRL much, much more.
Take care.

So very sorry to hear about this, he was a refreshing wit and never boring, wish I could have gotten to know him better, RIP my friend...

Many thanks Shelly, for informing us.
The world is a poorer place without AP. I wondered why he was missing, I thought he might have been bored.
My condolences to you in your time of loss.Posted 6 months ago # -
Thanks everyone. Tears. Many tears. Happy tears. Sad tears. Tears I can't figure out.
Today I go back to work. Four months since my life turned inside out, upside down, backwards. Words and coherence are fleeting things for me.He would have been happy for the Giants winning the World Series.

How tragic. So sorry, Shelley. I too remember his posts & found them entertaining. He will be missed by many. If you need someone to talk with and such, just reach out here. We are all here for you in this sad, sad time.

Sorry as well, AP was special.
I do wonder about any of us getting an obit here. I'd guess AP is the first. I doubt I will, which is a bit sad, but definitely puts AP above most.
In defense for most here, Shelly, too many avatars and posters change, get deleted, re-incarnate, too many to make us accountable for tracking them all.
I hope you are well, ty for letting us know we lost a gem.
