The trick-or-Treaters in downtown Ballard for Halloween were really creative, quite adorable, and having lots of fun despite the weather. The merchants have raised the bar for kids (and adults) participating in the festivities. Big thumbs up for all of them for doing this.

We had a great time and the merchants were all great, except the AT&T store that gave out pens, really? Pens?

despite what someone else said on another thread, I saw record numbers of trick-or-treaters out in the 'hood as well (at least a 10 year record anyway).

despite the rain and the mid-week timing, the turn-out was excellent.

we've got over 10 # of candy in the house, many of them 'king' size.

I haven't gone on Market Street since I watched one merchant with a large bowl of unwrapped hard candy let each kid reach his/her hand into the festering bowl of bacteria.

    Well, pokerguy?

How did those pens taste? Were they sweet & crispy? Tangy & chewy? Stringy & chokey?
    Did you microwave them first?
    Fill us in.

pokerchip, can you give our MyBallard viewers an accurate analysis of your different taste experiences between black and blue ink and how the shape of the pen and the color of the plastic barrel for each influenced your perspective of the individual donors regardless of their political leanings?
