Just curious how long? I noticed a medical clinic for the homeless located at the church across from the Ballard commons.

I don't know the answer but you can call up the church and ask them. Are you asking because you feel this is a good thing or a bad thing? Not that I am the one to ask about Christian charity but it seems like an appropriate faith-based activity for a church. And I think that some of the members here on the forum may appreciate that it is not funded with tax money.

I didn't mean it as a negative... It's definitely a step in the right direction. Hopefully a resource to help those who want help.

St. Luke's has a long history of outreach into the community. The church has been there for many more years then the Ballard Commons of course. It is very likely that the clinic was established well before the park.

The Neighborcare Clinic is located temporarily in the basement of St Luke's. Once Nyer Urness House is completed, it will be located there.

Here's a link that explains how it started, how it is funded, and what services it offers:

The medical clinic, an additional shelter and soup kitchen all opened at St. Luke's in August or September of this year -- shortly after the Honey Bucket arrived.

I believe this is one of two or more threads on this subject.
