the Old Town Alehouse closing seems poignant since it's one of the few local places that allow your kids to watch you guzzle.

Sweet Lou's was also mentioned--any others?

I've taken my kids to the Loft before, but they were kicked out at 9pm
(they graciously waited in the car for me ;)

do those places also kick the kiddies out at 9pm ?
(not that a child should be staying up TOO much later).

What about bars that allow (serve) pregnant women? Allison might need one of those some day.

I am not sure on the cut off but would believe after 9pm is a no no. I am also sure glares from other patrons may even motivate you to leave earlier. If you do test the time limit it would make a great thread title here.

Ridge Pizza - good pizza & micros

Josephines - but it is BYOB

Kids can eat at Hale's. And my 15 year old went to dinner at Bastille w/her 16 year old boyfriend and she told me they sat them in the back bar, which surprised the heck out of me - I thought that was 21+. Or perhaps the staff didn't realize how young they were...

H2o, I have a vague (admitedly very possibly wrong...) memory of someone telling me that kids *are* allowed in the Back Bar.... But def not sure how late, etc.

9pm is a WSLCB thing, fwiw.

Unless an establishment designates an area that CANNOT allow alcohol, you and your kids are pretty screwed after 9pm.

But, hey, you can carry a pound of weed...

you can only carry a pound of weed if you've got 15 kids to hold an ounce each.

I figured there was some law barring children.
    seems prejudiced against young socialites.

I should've said "pound" of facebooking weed.

Translation, as long as your dope smoking kids are okay with the most blue-law state dictating the most repressive liquor laws in this country, you are golden.

I drank and played pool with a son of mine on tour until closing time. Perhaps any 'red-state' in this country is more progressive?

Anyway, you miss my point, entirely. This voting populace yearns to allow the WSLCB to mandate arcane rules about minors, which has been entirely incapable of repressing minor consumption, or even enforcing it beyond any storefront, but yet is going to control your 'facebooking' 'pounds' of weed.

Sounds like a winner for somebody.

While not explicitly a bar, Cafe Mox is a great place to go get a good beer that is friendly to all, if you can get in.

I was in a bar in Boston and someone was putting beer in their toddler's sippy cup. When the bartender and manager learned of it, they looked at each other and said in their distinctive Irish accents "hey, just like home!" and they let it go.

much better than the 'blown out of proportion' response.

I heard a story about some guy who bought his son a Mike's Hard Lemonade at a ballgame (thinking it was regular lemonade). the authorities took the kid to a hospital, where it was determined there was no alchohol in the child's system.

I think it was three days before he got the kid back though!

That is the reason I refuse to purchase adult beverages at sporting events beside the cost. All the beverages taste so watered down that I get a better buzz from the water fountain.

Josephines - Also has BYOW .. fwiw

apparently the guy is suing now for having his kid taken.

so Buf, are the Bills gonna 'squish the fish' tonight?

haHa .. I am arguing with friends back home on Facebook that you can't "squish the fish" since dolphins are not considered fish ;) I haven't really watched them much this year since I have always been more of a Seahawks fan even growing up there. I always wish them well and want them to win if not playing the Seahawks. They are having a rough year and ownership needs to spend on a real coaching staff. I will watch tonight and they are at home in prime time so it should be a tough environment for the visitors.

looks like the Hawks go on the road to play the Bills in a few weeks (12/16).

unfortunatley it's one of the dreaded Toronto games where no one cheers.

maybe this year, they'll be in better spirits since the Maple Leafs aren't playing.

There are no bars or taverns that allow kids. If there is a wall (42 inches high!) between the bar area and the restaurant then minors are allowed in the restaurant area. There is no Washington state law that requires minors to leave at 9pm - it is up to the establishment to set those rules. Oregon has a state law requiring minors out by 10pm but not Washington. The WSLCB does allow tavern and restaurant to restrict serving minors in any way they want. If a place cuts back on the kitchen service late in the evening they may feel compelled to restrict minor access at that time. Many of the establishments listed about will let you stay with your kid(s) after 9pm. But they can set their own rules about that - given how draconian the Washington State liquor laws are , some businesses are extra cautious. Also bigger places have to provide the WSLCB a crowd control plan and tossing out minors at certain times may be part of their plan. Avoid big sports bars. I have been in Kiss Cafe, Barking Dog, People's Pub and El Chupacabra after 9pm with kid in tow.

Maybe Alli is working or busy having a drink where no kids are allowed. That isn't shocking.

She will be horrified, however, to find out that Chuck's can be infiltrated.

"...then minors are allowed in the restaurant area"

yeah, they really all are just eateries that serve drinks.

I want to know about a place that I can saddle up to the bar and sit next to an infant who's nursing his bottle while I nurse my gin & tonic.

Oh jeez, Corvus is right. I try to ignore this reality by sitting in the bar, but Hattie's does allow rugrats in the back.

After the Jolly Roger started allowing kids, I brought mine down to grab some food to go. While waiting, I sat my kid on one of the bar seats and took a picture. The bartender calmly came over and explained that they were not allowed to have any kids sitting at the bar.

Instead we terrorized the rest of the restaurant and parking lot. I'm quite sure everyone there double-checked their birth control options after returning home.
