My kids have hundreds of books (literally). I would love to give some of the older ones to a family shelter that takes in families with little kids. I'm not really in tune to what family shelters are around the Seattle area. Anyone have suggestions?

The literacy project is in Loyal Heights. You might also check with the Ballard Food bank

Hope Place (run by the Union Gospel Mission) and Broadview Shelter are two of the larger shelters in Seattle that serve Women and their children (birth to 18). They each have a good children's program that could use books. First Place School is a school for homeless children (ages 5-13) that would appreciate books. And Perinatal Treatment Services just a little north of us is a long-term rehab facility that allows mothers to bring their children (up to age six) with them to treatment, good program. I am working with some Head Start programs that have early literacy as part of their program and I am sure they could use them too. Your donation would be valued by any of these groups - what a kind and thoughtful gift to other children.

The Ballard Senior Center, by the Locks, or Goodwill.

DDF, I have a request but would rather ask off the board. Would you mind sending me an email to owlsinsomnia and it's earthlink.net. Thanks!
