Right now there are at least four police cars and one fire engine at the Ballard Market. Anybody know what happened? It's an engine, not a medic unit, so if someone is injured it probably isn't very bad. Looks like there are some employees in white coats and aprons out front talking to officers. Perhaps from the meat department? Hope everything is okay. They've been there for a while now.

Wife, Dog and I walked by during the commotion...
From what I could see there was one dude in cuffs being interviewed by officers and checked out by paramedics at the back of a patrol car. At the front of the store the Ballard Market security guy was being checked out by paramedics (looked like they were simply icing his hands...) . I saw another Market employee (meat dept guy in apron) giving a statment to the spd officers...couldn't hear him but could see he was physically describing how punches were thrown in a fight .... so i assume some kind of shoplifting incident...?Posted 5 months ago # -
Wow! Thanks very much, NorseBud! Let's hope that the bad guy was the only one that got hurt.

people are always trying to lift from the meat dept.
just another reason to go vegan!

I was at the Ballard Market a bit earlier - a typical Wednesday-Before-Thanksgiving shopping experience. Hmmm, meat dept.,was someone trying to steal a turkey, I wonder?

oh gossip queen...tell me more stories about shoplifting! Is there a hazmat response happening right now? Did someone crash their car?!!

GI are you vegan or was that sarcasm?

unfortunately, that was sarcasm. I don't have the willpower to eat a strict plant-based diet, although it's not too far off.
then I'll see a commercial on tv, like one I saw last night for some fajitas filled with grilled steak, peppers, onions, etc. I wouldn't go to that particular fast-food joint, but I'm inspired to make my own version at home.

Police: Man takes beer, sugar, parsley in pre-Thanksgiving robbery
Also: Ballard has an officer McNulty.Posted 5 months ago # -
The shoplifter must have been drunk and stupid.

Here my overly charitable heart was thinking some Les Miz thing, a desperate man stealing food to feed a starving babe, and it was just a drunk wanting beer (and parsley?). I'll go let my heart bleed elsewhere.
