Thanks Rudy. That was my grade school and went for craft show couple years ago. Those class rooms that seemed so big are so small! The thing about going there, the big deal was to advance to the "brick building" -which was like grades 5 & 6 as I recall. Couldn't wait to get out of the "wood building". There was an olympics-type event that the President had to get youths healthy-type thing. I won "gold" by placing first in the 50 yard dash. To do that today - not so much!! I would get more like tin these days!
Gracie, I also went J.B. Allen, then the wood building's playground was segregated, girls had the front to the side staircase - boys had the rest, now the parking lot.
Wasn’t that Pres. Kennedy’s fitness challenge? I won a ribbon for doing something like 150 sit-ups in 2 minutes, now I think about one of those chairs that lift you up and out.
Silly question, but isn't this an event to buy stuff? If so, what do you get for paying to get in, other than an opportunity to spend money?
phoo - in this case, not sure. But have gone to other Christmas craf shows with admission & it was a ticket for a drawing.
RichY - too funny about the chair lifting you up and out. Some days it is like that, isn't it!!! Don't remember segregation of boys and girls in playfield. I was such a tomboy then that I was totally into things like tether ball, and what they called "baseball soccer" - basically kick ball and run the baseball field (this was in the brick building). And to think running and doing all that stuff on that cement or black tar surface. Noticed when I was there that they have knob things sticking out of the bannisets - we, of course, would slide down them & hope not getting caught by a teacher.
gracie, too true, we all had fun on hard surfaces. The boys side at the wooden building had tether ball, 4-square, kick-ball diamond, they added a monkey bar climbing gym (again over the blacktop).
Oddly an old friend of mine who was an architect told me that the brick building was built on the lot backwards - the classrooms were to be facing the lake (not the play ground)
of course, would slide down them & hope not getting caught by a teacher.
The principal would stand at her office window and yell at us (I think we called her 'motor mouth' (children are so cruel)
Rudy, thanks for filling in the info I should have input!! I am on getting ready overload.
No problem Smartsy. :-)
Phoo, if you look at the schedule of events link it seems as if there is quite a bit of music performed. I don't think it's just an event to buy stuff.
I think that part of the admission fee goes to the Phinney Neighborhood Association, which is based there and organizes zillions of things (apparently including this event!) and is an all-round asset to the community.
I always go to this one. Are you gunna have a booth Smartsy?
Mondo, correct! I think the fee was higher in past years but now they are asking for a food donation instead.
Nora Bell, yes. I am in the old building . I don't have the spot with me and I will post it during the week.
Smartsy - I plan on going on Sunday. What do you sell?
Ceramics. Handmade Botanical Tiles, Abstract Tiles, some functional wares like Bowls, Tumblers, Serving pieces, Trinket/Soap Bowls, Small Bird Baths. Have a look at some of my work posted on fb.

SA...Your link still requires one to log into fb before seeing your photos. Not a problem for me, but can you change your settings so that people can see your fb page without logging in?
P.S. Good luck at the show. I always appreciate artists taking the time to make such beautiful art. I have a list of things I'd like to do myself someday, but for now, I'll just stay on the purchasing end to support the local artists. :-)
Thanks Chickster. There's a lot of somedays out there! I bet you are good at what you do now!!
I go by Smartsyartsy if anyone wants to friend me on FB.
Just a plug for smartsy. I love her nature-inspired work. It's gorgeous, and I intend to acquire some this weekend. See ya there, kiddos.
Thanks so much bio. You are all so supportive and it means a great deal to me as I rebuild my life!
Virtual coupons for 15% off all around!! Just say "Smartsy sent me"
and forgive me if you also ended up on my email master list.
I love the nature aspect as well - there was one in the pictures with birch trees. My last name, roughly translated, means "land of birch trees."
gracie, that tile is in honor of my first oil painting which I keep in the studio. I painted it in high school; it also depicts my dad fishing in a little boat. I always loved birch trees.
That is awesome. You are very talented. Hope to meet you Sunday.
My booth is #105. In the old brick building.
There are two buildings and two parking lots. The brick building actually borders Dayton and is also accessible from the parking lots. You'll also find the cafe and music stage there (yes, I will have music all day both days, so I hope it is good)
Remember, if you say "Smartsy sent me" you will get a 15% discount.
Thanks for the support MB peeps!
It was a fun event. Thanks to those of you who came by -- just to look and those who purchased. I wonder who came by and remained incognito!!
It was fun! Some awesome stuff, SmartsyArtsy!
P.S. - for those who attended but didn't have a chance to grab a name from the Giving Tree, it's not too late. I think they keep it up right into the 10th.
P.P.S - SA, did you sell the cherry blossom tile? I thought it was too big for a stocking stuffer but started having second thoughts on the way home.
Yes I did, Nora. In fact it think it was the last sale of the day. Sorry.
It was really nice to see all of your pieces, Artsy. Lovely work. I think that one was my favorite too. Beautiful and light.
Fun event! I always love to see the art and experience the Sedentary Sousa Band!
You snooze, you loose. She'll love the one I got her, I know. It's absolutely beautiful. :-)
lia, thank you. The music that was playing when you came by was droning the life out of me.
nora, if you have second thoughts and want to see any others again, let me know. thanks
