Yep. A lot of places along 24th. We're near 60th.
Posted 5 months ago # -
Apparently it is out in the neighborhood of 65th and 34th NW. It's on where I am 61st and 22nd.

No Power along 26th & 59th as well.

I just spoke with seattle city light, they said they were aware of the outage, working on it, and restoral time is estimated at 4:00.
Oh and onederfullone, P.S., I blame unions!

I wonder if it is related to donarbs's post. I am not home but hope mine is on since my chameleon and leopard geckos enjoy there heat rock and light this time of year.

Power out at 56th and Market. Looks like Ballard Market is dark, too!
Here's the Seattle City Light Outage Map: http://www.seattle.gov/light/sysstat/

The "Poof" post seems to refer to this. Probably a transformer blew out.

There must be a lot of people without power since it shows 47 people viewing the forum. I usually see the viewing amount in the high teens
Posted 5 months ago # -
Any idea why?
Posted 5 months ago # -
My husband was told that a construction area hit something that caused a transformer to blow, but I am unsure how accurate that is.

Make that count 65 reading this page.

It's the damn condos! No end to the misery they visit on this poor neighborhood....
Heard the explosion clearly here (30th and 60th) as the power went off.
Called City Light on the cell phone, they said 5000 people effected, estimated power restoration 5 pm.
Gonna be dark by then. Better load the shotgun - the mobs will be going door to door once the sun goes down. Hunker down, Ballard.

Hmm, I called, they said restored by 3 pm. I'm at 52nd and 15th.
Posted 5 months ago # -
I also called City Light and was told that it was equipment problem and we shold have power back by 5pm. I am near Ballard C. C.

I guess I am lucky. Over here between 24th/15th on 65th. Power hasn't even flickered. Looking at the map is really something. The little isolated islands are weird, especially that one above 65th near 15th. Odd wiring job.

I called, they said 5pm, which means they don't know, but will be gone at 5pm...
The generator is fired up, no worries, we'll have lights and shrimp on the barbie.
google my addy, lol.

Ours just came back on - 22nd and 59th

There's an update on the front page -apparently outage caused by a Seagull (colliding, I assume with a transformer) - City Light saying will be back up sooner than others...

Argggh - "areas around Swedish may be out til 7 pm"
Posted 5 months ago # -
Damn. Guess I don't have a valid excuse for not going to the gym after work if power is currently being restored.
Posted 5 months ago # -
I was down at 51st and 15th delivering clothing to the lovely people at Bridge Care Alliance. I drove past a yellow truck with one of those cherry picker baskets on it over by Swedish. Of course I stopped and asked a neighbor if she knew what had caused the outage. She pointed out a dead seagull on the ground near some orange cones. Poor lil guy! I sent a couple of pics to myBallard. Don't know if they will use them.

Yup, crownhiller, the crillbillys didn't have to deal with this.
Sorry folks. Being without power can be fun except if you have no heat because of it or if your animals are affected like hawk.
Didn't know you had lizards (although you probably have brought it up here - mind like a steel sieve) I do love those scaly things!Posted 5 months ago # -
I hope everyone has their power restored soon. Several years ago a crow blew a transformer fuse, power was out for a couple of days. People had extended their yards across the alley which was supposed to be access for the city trucks, and the crews couldn't get in. Hopefully they don't do that outside of hillbillyland.

Wow, did all of you have generators, or were you posting via cell phone? I'm also wondering what a wiring "theater" might be. A flat slab with individual copper strands, waving back and forth kabuki-like and drawing in hapless dino descendants to a toasty death?

I went out and bought a "Brooklyn Lantern" on sale (12.99) at Bartels. Used by many on the east coast after Sandy. Got home and had lights! But ready for the next time.

calling on siliver! do you think something more sinister might be behind the power outage than meets the eye here? I'm suspecting this is a cover up. Please share oh gossip queen!

it's pretty damn hilarious that a portion our modern infrastructure was taken out by a seagull!
I'll bet if they wanted, they could gang up on us humans and put Ballard under water.
it's also terribly funny that a few minutes w/o power prompts people to fire up the generator and such. you spoiled americans!

Came back on at 3:54 or so here.
Sorry to hear was a seagull, well atleast it wasn't a Snowy owl =)
