So very fortunate to see him in SF & Monterey in the 60s, his music was one of a kind great, started listening to him in my freshman year at Monroe/Ballard in the early 50s. He was one of the all time jazz giants, changed the face of jazz more than anyone I can think of. Passed away a day before his 92nd birthday.

was waiting for someone to mention the passing of this icon!
saw him and his amazing quartet a few times in the 80's and was awestruck.
I wasn't around for the 'changing the face' part, but I believe it.Posted 5 months ago # -

NEIGH NEIGH DONT BE FOOLED. Dave Brubeck was a son of Satan and a soldier of the devil. Cover your ears scream. Drown out his sound. WEE WEE His immortal soul is currently doing battle with Mile Davis on the rings of Saturn.

If he really ripped off Bach's 5/4 time, I'm glad he did.

To quote a recent TV show... "Why don't they play the right notes?!?"
