Cate - I read that whole article and got my usual distrust and suspicion of Driscoll and then noticed Corvis stated it was an old piece! Well I still don't trust the guy, he is up to something and it does not seem healthy. I just watched and then read about the "Machine Gun Preacher" (Sam Childers) now that is what Driscoll should do with his so called god inspired intentions.

Corvis - I love the new avatar!

Happy New Year to you both .

I don't trust him either. He represents everything evil in megachurches. Totally all about money. Type of guy who would rant about homosexuals and then toe tap in a public bathroom. Pisses me off such a right wing church is in our very blue neighborhood, sucking in naive kids with their stupid music.

I read that when it was first published and was even further creeped out by the guy. I'm amazed that he has all these young followers, especially in a city as progressive as Seattle. I used to work with a girl who goes to Mars Hill and was always baffled by that. She was an incredibly sweet, non-judgmental, genuinely lovely person. It's bizarre to me that she would buy into his hateful dogma.

A LOT of buying tax-free real estate.

That's my idea for closing the budget gap....tax churches.

There is a head pastor at Mar's Hill Church whose wife is very ill with cancer. She was newly pregnant when diagnosed with stage 3. The church announced a fund raising drive to help the family with expenses for her and the children. I thought it was unconscionable that the church did not provide for one of their own but expected the members to fork over the money.

Mars Hill... oh, boy! I would sign any petition and support any action that would re-evaluate the tax exempt status of all Chruchs. If the pastor lives in a big house and has many cars and wields unmentionable power and control and hasn't any sense of being humble, forgiving, caring towards the community... it means 'dude' is taking too much from the coffers and not giving enough back to the community in which he claims to support/lead/counsel.

    Arrrr... will... not... continue... rant....

Hello- Either you have a good ad block software, or your subconscious is very good at tuning out the message. That's what I call a blessing.

I was actually kidding. But it would be a Blessing by the Lord God Himself if there was an Awakening in that church.
