I sometimes wonder if people that PUI kick themselves in the morning when editing is no longer available;)

Buffalo - that would be me! Sort of like the time a co-worker asking me if boss was having a "thing" with another person in office. I usually don't engage in that stuff but for whatever reason I did later. I sent her an email saying yes, it is true. Sent it & then to my horror realized I sent it to the boss. I got out of it by coming into his office just as he got back saying there was an issue with email & I'll check to see if his was okay. I deleted that sucker so fast & that taught me big time no more gossiping - especially over email.

i believe it is a ten minute window that you can edit a post for. after that, you are SOL.

I may be mistaken.

The option to edit used to last forever. It was changed a few years ago. Once a person started a thread in which they announced they found a lost animal and were trying to find the owner. They later decided they were going to keep the animal. A lot was said about the animal in a few threads over a period of weeks. In order to reconcile differences in their posts and appear consistent, the person who found the animal went back and edited comments to make it seem as if they never planned to return the animal.
I'm sure I got some of the details wrong but this is the short version and is accurate enough to explain the limited edit feature.
And yes the fact is some of your neighbors are just that devious.

Edog! you've played the 'edit' game yourself, much to my chagrin.
something like "great idea will probably come on here and call me out"
he'll probably gush about how it's all in good fun and is mostly grammatical.
ok, to continue w/ my test, I'm editing this post at 2:11, 53 minutes after posting.
pretty sure it's an hour.Posted 4 months ago # -
That explains the saying "The good old days".

GI - Thats just harmless fun. I've never made an edit to a more serious topic on anything beyond spelling or grammar.
Any minute Pdaddymom is going to thread jack and ask Phoo about soup she referred to in the other thread.

That sums it up fairly well...
