I saw her yesterday, running full-bore across the intersection of 65th and 15th, heading west past Top Banana. Hope they find her.

Oh good. Sorry to hear the dog is still missing. The direction it was running was towards my neighborhood. I'll keep an eye out. Poor thing.

I believe I saw your car by Top Banana the other day. I really do think it's extra helpful to have the huge poster on the back. Not only will it help people to keep their eyes peeled, it says volumes about how serious you are to get your girl back. Although it doesn't sound like she's in my area anymore, you never know. I will keep my eyes peeled.

This dog was spotted by Salmon Bay Park 7am or so this morning...

The folks in the neighborhood by the park are putting out food, in hopes of keeping the dog in the area.

They're having a search party tomorrow if people want to volunteer and help. Here's the info from their facebook page...

Search for Joy - Volunteers Needed!
    By Joy Lost in Ballard

    Thursday, January 31
    6:00am until 8:00am
    1918 NW 65th Street, Seattle

The last few sightings of Joy have been in the early morning hours, so we're coordinating an organized search in Ballard during that timeframe.

Tracy Wilson (Joy's owner) and Jim Branson (from 3 Retrievers Lost Pet Rescue) will meet all willing volunteers in the parking lot of Smokin' Pete's BBQ on Thursday, Jan. 31 at 6 a.m. and we'll fan out from there.

If you have a calm, friendly dog, feel free to bring him/her along for the search. Joy is more trusting of friendly dogs than people -- however barkers will scare her away.

Please attend if you can. Even if you can only spare a few minutes before work, it would be such a big help!

    Friday morning...
"Just got a call that a man found Joy sleeping on his front porch this morning. On 90th just west of Soundview field. (He just saw a flyer posted on Market St. and connected the dots.) He gave her water and offered food, but she ran off. He reports that she seemed pretty calm, a bit scared, but otherwise OK. He will put more food out tonight. PLEASE, if you live in the area, put some food on your porch! She's asking for help...let's give it to her!!!"

Friday afternoon she was spotted running south on 21st NW then west on 92nd.

Keep looking! Apparently there is another lost dog running around in Ballard who looks very similar to Joy...no wonder there have been so many multiple sightings in opposite parts of town!

    From Joy's fb page:

A similar, smaller dog escaped this afternoon. She has a red collar, and she seems to be the source of some of the calls we are getting about Joy running along Market Street. Please keep an eye out for Ginger while you are looking for Joy. If you see any dog, at any time, running in a manner that suggests she is frightened and lost, you can always call Three Retrievers Lost Pet Rescue, 206-552-0304, and we will help if we can. Below is the CL ad for Ginger:

Maybe it's because I'm down with the flu (despite the flu shot -bleeah) but have been following this saga on FB - if you haven't seen the updates yet (which includes a sightings map), Joy is clearly travelling a trajectory up and down 65th - she was most recently spotted in Woodland Park. Sounds like her poor owner is downright exhausted from trying to find her so if you haven't already taken a look at the flyers and travel 65th with any regularity, please do - hate to see any scared animal out there alone.

crownhiller: It sounds like they have found her! SAS picked her up around greenlake and the microchip number seems to be the same! I am so happy. I've never seen an owner take such great lengths to find a missing animal before. I am so glad it had a happy ending, and it's heartwarming to see someone go to such lengths.

wow - I go take a shower and miss the action, lol - yes, I was very impressed by the owners as well, plus all the people who came out (at 3 am no less) to help with searches and trap checking. Just spiffy all around.

Yes! Awesome news that Joy has been found!!!! Another VERY HAPPY ending!! :-)

Thanks to all those who helped in the search, along with Joy's facebook page and a chip, the Seattle Animal Shelter officer who found her near Green Lake was able to confirm it was her. She is uninjured but very scared and on her way home! See her "found" photo here...
