I saw a Dalmatian with a red collar wandering down 64th, probably close to 30th by now. No human in site, just wandering, sniffing stuff. I couldn't get it's attention, so just called the animal control hotline when I got home. If this is your dog, it's last seen wandering down 64th NW.

  2. I hope that dog is home. I read your post just as I was leaving the studio last evening, so I drove around coming from north east then north west of your sighting, back down to 64 & 32. I didn't spot him/her.

    P.S. Love your kitty avatar!

I hope so too. I haven't seen him/her since. The dog had a collar, though I couldn't get close enough to look for or at a tag.
    Thank you for looking, SA!

My friends had two dalmatians. The most clueless dogs I have ever seen. I've heard the breed skews kinda dumb. It was amazing they lived as long as they did, as they too loved to wander.

There's a homeless type, who has a Dalmatian named "Pete".

    Maybe it's that one ?

Try calling it by that name ? though I recall, now it's deaf or hard of hearing. That breed has been interbred in mid century so much as to develope those flaws.

Not sure if this is the same dog you saw, but there is a white and black (mainly white) spaniel/setter/dalmation type dog of medium size (35-40 lbs?) that has been barking and running around the slope above Golden Gardens, just out of our yard and slept in our yard last night. He's really skittish - can't get anywhere near him. He was in the area of 32nd and 80th-85th all last night and this morning - you won't be able to see him from the street though. You might hear him barking and baying his head off, though...

This one seemed more hard of hearing than skittish. I did call out 'Hey,pup' to try and get its attention, but didn't even seem to register my existence. Either way,I hope dog and owner are back together. It did seem like the dog was sniffing around looking for something, or somebody.

What made you come up with a phrase like that?

Well,I ocassionally run into a guy that has a dalmation named Pete.Normally see the dog before noticing the person.

Sometimes give the guy a cigarette and talk with him outside a bar I go to.Don't think that he's allowed inside.

I'll go outside to smoke briefly.Give the dog a treat, the dog remembers me and will follow me around abit. It's friendly calm dog.

The guy lived on the streets, then got a job then lost the job and repeats that pattern. Haven't seen them in months.

Is that what you wanted to know ?

  11. No, you now described the guy. I know him also,

What I wondered about was the label "homeless type". I am sure you knew that.

    Well, "homeless types ?"

    They ask me for money.

Meaning he does that. I don't hand out money.

After afew years of asking he should understand that.

May be working, since haven't seen him around.

Mentioned that he had a boat, I recall now.

So maybe he is homeless or maybe not, hence the type ...

"Fines should be crippling and not just an inconvenience."

As a breed dalmations are prone to deafness so that wouldn't be a surprise. They're also prone to epilepsy.
