So what happened in Silicon Valley between HP's garage and Apple?

The Fairchild part of the answer is on PBS' American Experience tonight. Must-record TV for a Silicon Valley boy like me.
On a tangentially related note, anyone interested in the history of Silicon Valley and/or the PC should definitely read this book:
