  1. Tonight we're showing:

Rango (for the kids) at 4:30pm

Mystery Science Theatre 3000 (for the big kids) at 7pm.

Grab a glass of vino and some pie and let the kids go wild. See you tonight!

Only problem is that when my kid was young enough for a stroller she didn't have a job so she was a bad tipper. I wouldn't want an angry valet to key her ride;) If you do it on a rainy weekend day I would be up for the early show.

    Best of Luck

There are 200+ episodes of MST3K (all of which I happen to possess). Which one are you showing? Might be fun to come down and see it in a different environment than my living room if it's a good one.

I kind of think they meant the MST3K movie but it could be an episode. Teenagers From Outer Space is one of my favorites, same goes for Pod People.

jubbjubb, have you seen Cinematic Titanic when they've been here? Joel, Trace, Mary Jo, Frank and J Elvis have done signings at Scarecrow, was great fun.

Teigyr -- That is a great one, I actually even have the original, full-length version too. Werewolf is up there in my top 5 -- love the Italian actors pretending to be Americans and the inclusion of a Sheen; albeit no Martin or Charlie, but close enough for MST purposes. I had no clue the gang all showed up on tours; have to keep an eye out.

Thanks Ernie -- Used to have a little more free time.

If you miss the old MST3K gang, look up Riff Tracks. They did several more movies without the guise of the MST premise, and picked a few more classics (Night of the Living Dead, Plan 9, etc.)

jubbjubb, so here is the question. Are you team Joel or are you team Mike?

When the movie got released, I lived in Calif so was able to go to an advanced screening where they had an actors discussion panel after the movie. Good times.

What was the episode with "watch out for snakes"? I have MST3K lines that go through my head and sometimes can't connect the line with the movie.

I have a few DVD box sets but not all. I had almost everything that aired on VHS but, alas, most of them degraded.

    jubbjubb, I am jealous!

"There are 200+ episodes of MST3K (all of which I happen to possess)."

My fav is the Thing that Wouldn't Die. The trade rat jokes crack me up. We used to have about 1/2 of them on VHS. Best show ever!

teigyr - "Watch out for snakes" is from another great one, Eegah

Teigyr- firmly in the Mike camp for MST3K. I am jealous, I'd love to spend an evening in the theater with those guys.

And to the both of you, there are tons of MST's online. Bit torrent sites are loaded with good download speeds. There is or were a group calling themselves the MST Preservation Society (or something close to that) that make sure the episodes are posted. I was even able to get the movie posters for a lot of episodes so when I burned the downloads to DVD I set up the menu screen with the movie poster and put on what I thought was appropriate background music.

Unfortunately, I blew up my PC and am living off a netbook & Ipad presently. If I had a running DVD burner I'd offer to make you copies. I'll try to remember to put up a post with this offer as soon as I get off my butt and buy a new PC (or inherit some old junker).

PS the Company.... Do you sell adult beverages? We just looked at your menu and no mention of it. Or does your mascot come out and make balloon animals?

@edog, this was sent to Maker's Mark Ambassadors 5 days ago:

    Dear Maker’s Mark® Ambassador,

Lately we’ve been hearing from many of you that you’ve been having difficulty finding Maker’s Mark in your local stores. Fact is, demand for our bourbon is exceeding our ability to make it, which means we’re running very low on supply. We never imagined that the entire bourbon category would explode as it has over the past few years, nor that demand for Maker’s Mark would grow even faster.

We wanted you to be the first to know that, after looking at all possible solutions, we’ve worked carefully to reduce the alcohol by volume (ABV) by just 3%. This will enable us to maintain the same taste profile and increase our limited supply so there is enough Maker’s Mark to go around, while we continue to expand the distillery and increase our production capacity.

We have both tasted it extensively, and it’s completely consistent with the taste profile our founder/dad/grandfather, Bill Samuels, Sr., created nearly 60 years ago. We’ve also done extensive testing with Maker’s Mark drinkers, and they couldn’t tell a difference.

Nothing about how we handcraft Maker’s Mark has changed, from the use of locally sourced soft red winter wheat as the flavor grain, to aging the whisky to taste in air-dried American white oak barrels, to rotating our barrels during maturation, to hand-dipping every bottle in our signature red wax.

In other words, we’ve made sure we didn’t screw up your whisky.

This is absurd for two reasons. One, when faced with an increase in demand and a fixed supply, you raise the price. Two, a product like bourbon that is known for a strict adherence to specific set of ingredients and process does NOT change its recipe lightly.

The demand for bourbon is not so elastic that makers mark will lose anything. I suspect this is driven by the idea that the market won't be this strong years from now and that future investment is not worth while.

Looks like Maker's Mark reversed their decision:

Since we announced our decision last week to reduce the alcohol content (ABV) of Maker’s Mark in response to supply constraints, we have heard many concerns and questions from our ambassadors and brand fans. We’re humbled by your overwhelming response and passion for Maker’s Mark. While we thought we were doing what’s right, this is your brand – and you told us in large numbers to change our decision.

You spoke. We listened. And we’re sincerely sorry we let you down.

So effective immediately, we are reversing our decision to lower the ABV of Maker’s Mark, and resuming production at 45% alcohol by volume (90 proof). Just like we’ve made it since the very beginning.

The unanticipated dramatic growth rate of Maker’s Mark is a good problem to have, and we appreciate some of you telling us you’d even put up with occasional shortages. We promise we'll deal with them as best we can, as we work to expand capacity at the distillery.

Your trust, loyalty and passion are what’s most important. We realize we can’t lose sight of that. Thanks for your honesty and for reminding us what makes Maker’s Mark, and its fans, so special.

We’ll set about getting back to bottling the handcrafted bourbon that our father/grandfather, Bill Samuels, Sr. created. Same recipe. Same production process. Same product.

As always, we will continue to let you know first about developments at the distillery. In the meantime please keep telling us what’s on your mind and come down and visit us at the distillery. It means a lot to us.
