I think Pickles is going into heat..again. She was overly affectionate last night - which is how she was first time. I swear she knows I had rescheduled her surgery to get fixed for Saturday. Question - can a cat in heat be fixed or do you have to wait?
Last time she was due for surgery she hurt her leg.

Oh,dear. I don't think they can fix her while she's in heat. But maybe somebody with more recent experience on these things can clarify?

Why not call the vet? They'd be the experts, after all! =)

Earl's right - your vet is best source but most "online" sources say that yes, it can happen but there are issues related to increased blood flow that can cause complications (such as bleeding/clotting problems). It can also cost more due to increased time it takes to handle the associated issues. Best to call and ask ;o)

  5. I would never have any animal fixed while in heat. But since she is less than a year and you think she has been in heat twice, you def need to have a discussion with a vet.

It's a no go. Next weekend. Her last "heat period" only lasted 3 days. I don't want to take any chances on her especially in surgery. Too precious to me. And Waldo - no cigarette for you after a roll in the hay with Pickles (although she would love it)!

    Damn, deal is off.

...unless, you'd accept a cigar? lol

Anyway, I've got to break it to Waldo, he just got fitted with some sweet neuticles.

    ...before I fix my door...

Waldo, where are you? Didnt you hear me howling for you at my front door and driving human mom nuts? Wait till she discovers little scratches at bottom, of door. Like. Pokerguy said it was VAlentine's Day-day of love. MEOOOOW

(Novalis thanks for link. I worry enough about her having the surgery without any possible added complications. Jeesh as I am typing she is trying to get on tablet. What a goof.)

    Back on topic...

Gracie. I think in the back of your mind you are worried about getting Pickles fixed. You seem to be putting it off. Anyway, certain vets will fix a dog or cat if they are in heat. It's a little more complicated, but considering the fact that she escaped and hurt herself last time she was in heat (if I have that story correct) then maybe you should give the vet a call.

Pg I did call vet. Surgery next saturday. Of course I am worried of her going under but it is necessary. There are too mamy kittens and cats who need homes. We are not contributing to that.
