For those stuck in office-sorry. It is gorgeous here at golden gardens. Hope you all can escape to enjoy ithis weather before rain returns.
gorgeous weather today(10 posts)
yeah, it is, I went to a couple local stores for seeds today, kind of in the mood to plant early.
Yeah, too effing early, no seeds. One guy said, "well, we've got a bunch of seeds that just got delivered, but we need to bust it open and set up some kind of display..."
"I really don't need to see the display, so, could you just sneak in and grab me some seeds?"
"...um, I'll need to talk to an associate...I might be able to get you some seeds in an hour."
fwiw, they've got a 'help wanted' sign in the window.
That is nuts. Forget where but I saw seeds for sale. I went & bought new garden tools. Made a discovery few weeks back--hadn't put some away last year & now just rust Went to hardwick hardware for some-sure can get lost in there. Have gift certificate to swansons nursery and going to get this tree/bush that has red bark. Hope they know what I am talking about. Saw at garden show last year. COME ON SPRING!
Onder-see "cats in heat" seems someone howling for Waldo last night and very early this morning on my day off. Poor thing
Great day at Discovery Park.
I was just leaviing beach & this small plane buzzed over the water very very low. Dont think that is kosher. Off to hopefully get shrimp cerviche.
Flower & Garden Show next week! Bit of a log jam but there will be seeds galore, and everything a seed never knew it needed!
It was nice to get home and have a little time to sit out back and watch the ducks foraging. Everything it pushing out for spring...won't be long now!
This is roto-till weekend down here in the bottom. Churn up your soil now & let the birds figure out there ain't no seeds there. They'll leave in a few weeks & then it's time to plant.
Iplod-except for crows. I plante d chard seeds last summer & wondered why didnt grow-until I saw a crow (my resident crow who I swear watches from somewhere when I am outside) he/she was doing its own plowing &only where I had planted those seeds. The other veggie starters left alone, little bugger.
Yeah gracie, but that's my point. The birds are always watching you from their secret hiding places. Most birds equate ground churning with seed laying (some equate it with grub exposing but they aren't your thieves except for crows) & will watch where you're sowing them.
Leave off sowing for a few weeks or a month after plowing and your bored friends will be out somewhere else more interesting for them & not see when you sow. Well, most of them anyways.
