    I suppose all that information will come out at the actual trial great idea. I just wonder why they are already even considering culpable homicide rather than murder. Maybe they are privy to facts (or evidence) that make the chance of a murder conviction difficult.

    Anyway, at the end of the day the justice system over there seems iffy at best.

    The reduced charges may be due more to the errors on the police's part rather than the circumstances of the case.

    Anyone have any idea how similar the courts are to ours?

    please penny, I would never gloat about a young woman's death.

    I misidentified her earlier in this thread as his wife, but see they were not married.

    I am not surprised however about those latest revelations. there was some issue he had w/ a fellow runner several years back which I remember well and seemed to indicate he was a beligerent person prone to domestic violence.

    his story just seems so implausible.

    I think the culpable homicide charge is for Pistorius' brother, Carl, not Oscar.

    he killed someone also in some sort of road rage accident a few years ago.
    perhaps they have a genetic predisposition toward violence.

    anyway I just wanted to gloat that penny was wrong.

    Oh, and back to the original topic, less than a 10% conviction rate, not counting national heroes, means the lady's family is quite screwed. Regrettably.

    Not unlike our own National heroes.

    I've never cared for the French, at all, but they got one thing in history right.

    24 hours, guillotine. Maybe less time in several cases, but it was facebooking done, especially for all of those limousine liberals.

    Unfortunately, they now elect crooks better than we do.
