Don't want to go back wher e I got my glasses as my doc said were made with wrong prescription & over correcting. Have you had good luck & could recommend somewhere (pardon all the typos. Still getting used to keuboard on tablet)

We go to Phinney Eye on Greenwood Ave, Dr. Rosales. Mr. jburgh gets his glasses there, but I take my prescription to Ottica on 1st Ave to get the frames and lenses made.

Costco usually has a discount coupon (right now it's $30 off your second pair of glasses, purchased on same day for the same person). As with other Costco stuff, not an enormous frame style selection, but good quality stuff, very good prices, and very friendly and helpful opticians. Besides, they put all their nice ginormous LCD TV's there so you can lust after them while waiting for the next optician.

Ballardguy - that's where I had my eye surgery done. GREAT doctor. Not sure why but thought maybe they would be higher priced than others. I do have insurance that covers some of it. Maybe I'll go back there and check it out. Thanks.

I haven't tried it but apparently Costco does not require a membership for optical or pharmacy purchases (the pharmacy is due to Federal law.)

The LCD TV's purchase does require a membership though.

I've had very good experiences with Ballard Optical on Market St. Got me a great contact lens prescription and could even try out different types if I needed to. He doesn't have LCD TV's.

Dr. Jerry Tom at Davis Optical. It's in the U District but their evening and Saturday hours are convenient, plus quick turn around since they have their own lab. The people there are really nice and great at helping pick frames.

Ok, this is a bit of a trip, but they are family owned and make your prescription lenses in house, and deal with tricky vision issues. College Place Optical, Edmonds. Great customer service & lots of info on their website.

Eyes on the City(on 65th) has great customer service and the optometrist did a really thorough job with the exam. But whoever makes their lenses for them completely screwed them up. Twice. (they did pay for the second pair not me). They are my spares now and I took the prescription to Ballard Optical who did a great job getting (my admittedly complicated) lenses made.

I go to Northwest Vision Center on the corner of Market and 22nd. Really like Dr. Mark Balter and they have a good selection of frames.

    Gracie, did you get LASIK?

Compass, no lasik. About 4 yrs ago opthomolgist told me I had a cataract but nothing to worry about. Slow growing-see him in 4 yrs. Got new glasses from them. And my eyesight just wasn't really sharp. Thankfully I found this new primary doctor who suggested full physical including eye. Went to opthomolgist who not only said. It was not slow growing but fast &needed to taken care of soon & also my glasses were over correcting my eyes. The surgery corrected me from 20-60 in one eye to 20-20. I met a girl who was born with cataracts and as adiult limited vision. Poor girl.
