Just putting a little positive energy out there for a great Ballard asset.

It's fantastic to have a local business where for giving reuable goods get a chance to be, well, reused.

Yes there will be good days and bad days on both sides of the counter, but until the machines or the zombies take over, that's sort of how its going to go.

Until then, I'll buy and sell on the little shop on 24th just off Market.

Me too! You'd be suprised how many times the exact thing you were looking for is in there. I needed a countertop compost bin thingy and shazam! They had one! I needed new ski socks and Shazam! New ski socks. I have found amazing things in there, such as the chalk board shaped like a German Shepherd; the perfect gift for my friend with two Shepherds. Amazing.

Plus, it is dog friendly. Say hello to Frisco and Belle.

You know what else is good? I just discovered Ballard Consignment on Leary. They have a ton of great furniture in there, especially a lot of cool mid-century stuff.

  4. Lillie goes on auto pilot when we turn up 24th from Market. She knows we are going to Classic Consignment. They are a treasure. I too have needed something and walked in there to find that same thing -- and for a great price too. My #1 recommendation is coats. They have an amazing selection of high-end coats there for fabulous prices. Like my Beppa-- barely worn red coat for $40. Everyone in there is so nice, and that includes their sweet dogs. I have consigned and bought since before I came to Ballard.

I'm another Classic Consignment addict! Shoes and skirts for dancing are the first things I look for. I've purchased a couple of knockout gowns there! If you want to consign, get your appointment months ahead of time! Lots of people want to consign with them!

  6. Let's not keep propagating the "sucks" ad.
I appreciate the parking signs as well as the "50% off items under $100 that have been on sale for 90 days" YEAH, Just got a beautiful springtime wool red swing coat for $19.99.

I went there to replace a jade ring I'd lost. I found a black onyx one instead that has become my favorite, the one I wear every day. I also love their ever eclectic selection of pins.

If someone does a drive by and doesn't open the threads then sucks looks like the general consensus.

Another fan of CC. I have cosigned a couple of items there and they were easy to work with. And on rainy Sunday afternoons they don't mind if I browse for an hour.

  12. The decorator (Martin?) is very good with all the displays. He is also very good with all the dogs! Lillie loves him, esp when he shares a treat. He has a great eye for making cohesive groupings from an eclectic array of furnishings. I've watched him work and am amazed at how quickly he does so.

Smartsy - Matthew is a doll! He has a delightfully dry sense of humor!

A lot of our current furniture came from CC including a beautiful antique quarter sawn oak table that would have been twice the price at an antique store. I even found a specific storage unit once that I'd been wanting from Pier 1 for half off the retail price- I love Classic Consignment!

I've never been to Classic Consignment but if I had, I'm sure me and all of my totally perfect purchases would've been dutifully delivered out to my parking space in a sedan chair. It's interior would be darkened with frugal decadence + numerous store policy placards & it's exterior would be carried by two solid rows of stalwart grateful employees.

    I have a dream.

  18. Dream on, iPod. Not to burst you dream bubble, but you have been there--for me-- you picked up a display case for me a couple of years ago.

Oh, that was the name of that place? Now I'm po'ed about not being carried out in their sedan chair.

SmartsyArtsy, that was a very cool display. Have you found something else for that corner?

    Posted 2 months ago #
  22. I am now in the corner with my stressless chair; rearranged the living room to fit a pilates reformer.
The display will be very cool in the museum.
