Anyone else with Monday as their pickup day still have their garbage out on the curb? The entire South side of my street still has their garbage out. Wondering if they just missed us or if others out there had the same happen to them.

64th between 8th and 15th was done. I have sometimes had them skip a pickup (making it 4 weeks) for recycle.

the transfer station over in Fremont takes recycling for free, you just have to separate it first.

Our is on tuesday, but they do sometimes skip it. Very annoying to have garbage and recycling piling up. Then, of course, we start to store in in the garage and have to play "catch up" over the next several pick ups.

this is the first time they've skipped us in the 5+ years we've been here. Guess it was just my street's turn? (kinda lame)

If you call them and let them know they missed your street, they'll send a truck out pretty quickly.

Make sure they don't ding you for overloaded cans! My thought is they do that randomly on every block to create revenue... how many people check utility bill THAT close that you just pay the extra seven or eight dollars.

Think about how many blocks there are in the city and you can see the incentive to cheat it.

I called them on it a couple years ago and got charge dropped.

    Conspiracy-for-the-day! =]

I did call and they said the reason that the pickup did not occur was that the garbage was put out too late. Which is complete BS as I put my cans out Sunday night (along with everyone else on my street). Their solution was that since I called they would pick up my garbage and I asked, "what about the 10 other cans of my neighbors?" They said that each customer will have to call to arrange pickup on their own (because the reason wasn't that they 'missed' a pickup, they said that the cans weren't out)...so they'll send a truck out to pick up just mine unless everyone calls?! Lame. I'll double-check my bill ballardmike. Thanks.

I, too, was experiencing problems with pickup. I called them and truck out next day. They have a new company and the person told me ever since they started have been having problems. I was home the first time the new people came out to pick up my garbage and the guy was incredibly rude, rude, rude. Next time no pickup, I told the woman about this. They credited my account for all the missed pickups ($5.00 each missed pickup).

I've often had "extra pickup" charges on my bill. When we called they said they can tack on those charges for an overly heavy can or even if the lid is not secure on the can. Our garbage can is usually only half filled so there is no way it could be too heavy and we put our cans out the night before so anyone of the drunk bums in the alley could lift the lid off the can. And these charges show up 2X on every bill, the last bill we looked at I said to my husband that this has got to be a scam to get extra revenue. Time to get Jesse?

We had a scam going on with our extra charges about 3 years ago. The bill would come and there was the extra $5.00 tacked on. After calling each time they would remove it. It got to the point that on every third bill, there would be the charge. At that time, the worker got a percentage of the charges, so figured that he had a schedule of when he would charge different streets/houses. It finally got to the point that I would take pictures of the can when he was here dumping them. Had video of this also, but waste mangt. never wanted to see them. They said that they would keep a special agent on our route to "watch me". Intimation maybe? When the last extra charge came in I again called and reported this and told them since you had a special agent watching my garbage ask him how I was charged extra when I never had a full can? That was the last time we ever had an extra charge on our bill and this $$ garbage man disappeared. [I do have a life, but just no money to spare]

If you so much as have a bread wrapper sticking out of the can or the lid is not locked down, they do have the right to charge you the extra fees.

Also had missed pickups recently, but just call them the next morning and report it. It sometimes takes a couple of days, but they come. Also tell them that they missed our whole side of the block and never any problem.

Based on the last post consider this... Waste Management is a national outfit. How many neighborhoods, towns, cities do you think this might affect. I'm not great at math but as a designer I see patterns and this sure fits that template. It could be HUGE!!

Now - in the order of fairness I hearby invite Waste Management PR folk to this forum to defend said practices. HA!!!
