Last day at the 85th QFC...

It was sad to go into QFC today with the family. Bare shelves, most of the store has been picked though and just the last unwanted products remain. Mostly off brands, odds and ends, lots of snacks and unhealthy foods. Anyone who wants to know what products not to stock should take a look at what's left on the shelves.

Lots of wine remained. While it is sad seeing the store close it the emotional sadness pooled together in the lump in my heart where Sunset Bowl and Denny's used to live. Sadly, this lot will most likely end up like Denny's and Sunset Bowl.

My only hope is that maybe some commercial or business space will be built here... not just another Apartment building. Maybe the City of Seattle could make a large parking structure for the Rapid Transit Bus service that is supposed to go up and down 15th.

Sorry for the crummy place to post my picture...

Just afterward I drove over to the Holman QFC which was very busy and well stocked. I am looking forward to the Ballard QFC to open but am still skeptical that it will make it's December 2009 opening.

Oh now that would be interesting!

I'm too cheap to shop at Value Village anyway. I go to Goodwill!

Hey, at least they're probably not going to let the vacant building sit and gather dust and beer cans, only to eventually build condos/apartments with retail space few businesses can afford to rent.
    Change isn't all bad.
And I usually just shop at Goodwill too, but for some reason Value Village ends up with better Halloween stuff. :-)

I only heard via word of mouth and the people might have been wrong. I thought it was going to be converted into something else... I would be happy for another store to exist there...

I was just in that store. If you want deals on canned goods, bottled sauces and marinades, pasta and sauce, cereal, pantry goods, health & beauty stuff, etc. there are still lots to choose from and everything is 30% - 50% off. Except beer and wine - Darn!

I was in there today and overheard the cashier say that it will be the new location of Value Village.
