I don't know if any of you have noticed the older homeless woman who is seen regularly in Ballard. I first noticed her 2 summers ago as a regular attendee at the weekend concerts at the Locks. She wears a hooded coat year round but just puts the hood over her head and lets the rest fall loose over the rest of her body. Just this week I have noticed she is sleeping in a box right outside the Senior Center on 32nd avenue. At around 2 a.m. a few nights ago I heard her yelling, "Help, CAll the police, do you have a cell phone." She was saying this over and over again. She walked to the 7-11 and then over to the parking lot at the Locks and from there I have no idea where she went. Its getting cold out and I'm concerned. I pretty sure she has mental issues and probably wont go to a shelter. Where is the shelter in Ballard anyway? Is there one? Is there any help for the homeless people with mental issues in Ballard?

Please call the Downtown Emergency Service Center and ask them to send an outreach worker to talk to the woman. If she has mental issues they should be able to help her if she is willing to accept help.
DESC phone# (206) 464-1570
Thank you for your concern and your compassion.

Also call the Ballard newspaper. They had an article in the paper some months ago with picture. Adult son is trying to find his mother who is on the streets. The woman I had seen fit the description - but after the article I haven't seen her. If this woman is kind of slight in build, sometimes walks kind of hunched over - it's her.

Is this the woman who doesn’t always have shoes on and pushes an overflowing shopping cart? I see her at the end of my street a lot, sitting in the chairs on the side of Java Bean.

That's what I was wondering; if it is the woman who often sits outside Java Jive?

Yes. There are two homeless women that I have been seeing around the Ballard Heath Club, Chase Bank. NW 56th and 22nd Ave NW.
