   i was listening to the police scanner after i heard a bunch of sirens. they staked out the lock and keel and had a witness that said the guy came in to the bar confessing to shooting the cop- and had a gun on him. i wasn't able to tell when they had arrested him- last I heard they were waiting for him to finish his beer and were planning on arresting him on his way out of the bar. but there haven't been updates on it recently. they did say media was there- so that explains king5.

   yes, i'm sure the cop killer strolled into a ballard bar to turn himself in...i'll be the fisrt to appollogize if i am wrong here, but i think there is a touch of hysteria in the air.

   I was next door at Conor Byrne for the Blues Jam last night. A friend rushed in and told me there was a SWAT team outside. I went over to the door and sure enough there were about 15 police cruisers and unmarked cars with cops everywhere. They had already arrested a suspect and he was in the backseat of a cruiser by the time I got outside.

   My friend was outside smoking a cigarette when the cops arrived. He said it was really quiet and then all of a sudden he was seeing cops with machine guns surround the Lock and Keel. The very first thing we all heard is that the suspect was arrested in connection with the murder of the police officer. It would certainly explain the unprecedented police presence in Ballard!

   It felt completely surreal and no one really knew what was up. It was the first time I saw a machine gun in real life...that was kind of freaky.

    This guy, whoever he is, sounds more like a potential invol to me. He goes into a bar with a gun in his waistband and then proceeds to lament about his involvement with the shooting of a police officer? Sounds more like a twisted cry for help. Let's not forget the alcohol. Of course the police are gonna mount a force response to this situation, given the environment. Wouldn't you? Hardly anyone on the force are conducting traffic stops without backup right now.

    stopthebuzz - I did not ask the police what the threat was...though now I see the suspect either had a gun, or stated he had one. I am guessing the show of force was because there was a possible loaded weapon in a bar. The police have since stated it does NOT have to do with the police officer that was shot and killed.
