I have a Cuisinart, stainless steel coffee maker. It's on the fritz. Before I throw it away, I thought that perhaps someone else could use it somehow (a prop for a theatre, robot body part, play kitchen accessory, ?) or, if you're handy, repair it.

It's having some sort of problem with the controls/contact points, particularly the on/off toggle. For example, the on/off toggle won't start the brew cycle, but if you set the program timer, it will brew.

    Here is an image/description.

It just seems weird to scrap it, so if you can use it some how, post info here and if you're in Ballard, I'll drop it off!

amy, did you purchase this coffee maker in the last two years? maybe three? i've been having a ton of problems with a cuisinart coffee maker and have been on the phone with them a lot. so far they've replaced it 3 times and a 4th is on it's way. they've been really helpful. you may try that before it becomes a theater prop!

and for anyone considering a cuisinart with a thermal carafe, just say no! buy another brand.

Thanks for the info swimgirl. We've had it for seven 1/2 years and no problems until now. We've already replaced it (with another one). What a drag to have all those product exchanges, I'm happy that they are not stingy about replacments. I hope our new coffee maker won't be a lemon!

Our old Cuisinart coffeemaker gave six years of good service and wore out. We bought a new Cuisinart Grind and Brew at Macys with thermal carafe and have had no problems with it. It is the top rated grind and brew coffeemaker per Consumer Report.
