    Hi All,

Last Sunday, Nov 1st, I was hit by a black, 2008 BMW 3 Series, driven by a young lady, licence number 468 XEK. Corner of Nickerson and Bertona, right by the SPU campus. She ran into me from behind after threatening me a bit by playing the rev the engine/start stop quickly game. She hit my rear wheel, (my brand new Mavic Kysrium SL) and took off.

The police ran her plate but somehow, it showed up as "in the process of being sold" so it didn't link directly to a person. They want to press assault charges and I'm happy to help. If anyone has any info, or if you see this car, feel free to call the police and let them know they are wanted for assault.

  2. Wow! I'm glad you got her plate number and all! That sounds really odd... they can't pull up the previous owner on the car? Can they pull a VIN with the plate number? What would Carfax tell you I wonder? I hope they catch her!

I'm new to WA but I've never heard of "in the process of being sold" or anytime when there isn't a way to trace the registered owner of a vehicle when you have the plate number, even if the current owner is a dealership (my only guess as to what that could mean). Have you tried talking to the department of licensing? Maybe they'd know more about what that status means? Glad there were no injuries!

"process of being sold" means the owner filled out the report of sale (the little thing on the bottom of the car title) but the buyer hasn't re-registered the car.

Maybe I'm just being a dumb pedestrian here, but can't the old owner tell them who the new owner is? Even if it was a cash only deal they should be able to provide that info. I mean, contact had to have been made sometime.

  6. Seems odd to me too... and it would be odd that a 2008 BMW was sold for cash, with no checks or other payment method to track them down. Strange.

If it's an '08 then it's likely to have come from a dealership. Other than that what a BITCH!! Glad it didn't get any worse than what it was.

In CA when you send in your release of liability/ownership to the DMV, it includes all the new owner's info. I haven't gotten my new WA title yet so I don't know if it's the same here but it seems like it would be so the licensing department could track down the new owner even if they failed to register the car. Anyways, I'm sure they'll have the info as soon as the new owner does register it so hopefully the police can get her then :)
