Ok, I went through a little trouble to become the patient of Dr. Eintrecht at Virginia Mason, who wasn't really taking new patients, but who has been voted 'Best Primary Care Doctor' for a few years and was recommended by a doctor friend who got me into his practice. Well, he might be the greatest guy on earth, but I really have no idea since every time I call for an appointment, he's got nothing open for a week or two and I wind up seeing his Nurse Practitioner assistant (nothing against Nurse Practitioners; his is quite good actually, but I've got kind of a complicated health history and want the full MD meal deal).

So, who is an excellent local primary care doctor who you can ALSO actually get in to see!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!!??!!?!?!?!??!!?!?!?!??!

Jon Huseby at the PolyClinic - not Ballard, but worth the trip to pill hill. Funny sense of humor (you can't be too sensitive/thin-skinned), but very smart, very practical, and no problem getting an appt. He specializes in pulmonary med and critical care, but is also great as just a gp. Added plus - his staff is delightful.

I love Dr. Kelly White (male) at the Polyclinic downtown. Can always get an appointment. He always takes his time, and never rushes me out of there.

I've been happy with the doctor & staff I've seen at the Swedish Community Medical Health Clinic. I joined when I moved here a few months ago & was looking for a doctor... they came up in searches so I decided to try them out. You get unlimited visits (real, in-depth ones, never rushed) & many services included for $45/mo... and I've never waited more than 5 minutes in the waiting room for my appointment: http://www.swedish.org/body.cfm?id=2907

Well--full of beef, cole slaw and beer from Bad Alberts, so I'm feeling free enough to say that I'm looking for eye care, a gp and a dentist. Need folks who are available after 5 pm weekdays or on Saturday. I'm a school teacher, so out of the house by 0630, not back until in B'lrd until 1730 at the earliest. I have good insurance, it's just difficult to find health care with flexible hours.

Jonathan: Dr. Balter is a great eye doctor. Right on market and 22nd, Northwest vision Clinic. He also has days where he is in the office late.

JP, Gentle Dental is a chain, but I like it because they are really nice, and my teeth haven't fallen out.

The best part, though, is the view, they are in the Anthony's bldg with an awesome view of the water.

    Also, hours on Saturday.
