When I stopped at Great Harvest this morning on the way in to work, I noticed that the "have a free slice of bread on us" thing was gone, replaced by a sign explaining that due to some kind of recently-resolved insurance liability thing, they will no longer be able to provide free slices of bread and other goodies (though they will still give out bread sticks for kids). The nice guy behind the counter told me they were sad about it, too, but that they'd still give you a sample of a loaf your were thinking about purchasing.
I rarely took them up on the freebie slices, but it's sad to see such a thing go away. I always thought it was a really nice thing they were doing.
