    Ugh, BallardBear.
If you really were sensitive to the pain of others that have suffered abuse at the hands of the Catholic church or anyone else, you would not bring up these images so casually. What little I have observed from you, BallardBear, tells me that you have some personal things to process. There is no shame in that. However, doing it in such a public forum creates an unpleasant first impression, as all we see is the nastiness and not the whole person behind it and their story. In the interest of being welcomed into our community, I suggest you refrain from spewing out this ugliness at the rest of us, if you are interested in a long term relationship with us on this forum.

I will think good thoughts for you, and I hope to come to a better emotional place soon. Hurting sucks. Please be sensitive to others that you hurt with your words.

Is it like a red beer? (you know, shot of tomato juice)

If it is I could like it...

You guys are good people, and I look forward to getting to meet you at the next gathering (are we planning that yet?) I have to say, getting called a "catholic goodie goodie" made my day!

Oops. Don't mind me, I'm late on the take.
When I was a little girl, the grownups would put salt in the beer and *heat it up*. It was "medicinal". I'd forgotten about that. Thanks! :)

Salt in oatmeal! With half & half and a little butter! - - now we're talkin'

I also like to mix that steel cut 7 grain oatmeal from the Ballard Market, uncooked, with a fruity youghurt and add some dried fruit--tasty!

Biophile, I thought of you when I read someone bragging that he'd peed in the fire after the Golden Gardens gathering. I thought Maybe Biophile can use this as a teaching tool for her students, and by collecting DNA from the ashes, they can identify and track that person down.

Seriously, I can see you out there. You may still be able to get some crime-scene tape at Archie McPhee. The kids would love it!

Glad to see that BB was blocked so quickly. I commented on everything that was left with him as the last post...couldn't stand to see the name, even!

    Oatmeal....I think that's what we'll have for breakfast tomorrow....MMM!!

    LOHL!
Technically, I think you'd only be able to collect DNA from pee if the person had some huge infection and the pee was full of white blood cells. But you know me already, Chef Wahoo. I would love to attempt it.
I guess I've labeled myself. Current project: have pee ("fake" from interwebz) in my fridge with glucose in it, waiting for those damn ants to come back. All prior experiments have been negative, as I think taking them out of their environment was detrimental. If I can bait them with honey, maybe I can bait&switch for the sugar-pee. It's killing me. I want to see what happens.

For those who know me personally, please do NOT tell the fiance there is pee in the fridge. He would be less-than-pleased with me.

biophile: i never heat mine up, but do put a shot of salt in it sometimes, just like my dad did and also my pops (grand-dad). not always just sometimes when i wanna mix it up a bit.

its weird because i am NOt at all a "salt person". it just tastes good with the beer.

Oh, please tell me what he thinks is in that container!

And BTW, I'd bet troll-pee is full of undesirable critters. It's part of the reason they are so hateful and mean-spirited.

Well, you know when you really don't want to know, so you don't ask? I brought home a test tube rack from work, with little tubes in it, and he knows I'm waiting for the ants to come back. I have told him about the project, but sometimes what I say goes in one ear and out the other. If I don't SAY anything, he doesn't have to address it. I suppose its a little dance of let's-see-what-I-can-get-away-with.
I have to say, there is nothing sexier to kids than the gross-out factor. Whenever I'm losing a class to post meridian coma, I just bring up human waste products. Perks em up every time. Or, setting stuff on fire.

In regard to troll pee though, I beg to differ. I would hypothesize that it's troll "number two" that's the problem, and they are quite constipated!

Hmm, I see your point, Biophile! But I think we're both right. You probably know how people with UTIs will act ill-tempered, and seem to be spoiling for a fight. I can say the same for people who are clinically constipated.

Sorry to hijack your thread, Silver, and to further hijack the previous polite (but very necessary) hijack. Usind the words "troll pee" in a sentence was not something I imagined I would do today - even on a Monday.

    1) Beer
    2) Oatmeal or porridge
    3) troll sample

Two of these might benefit from extra salt, but the other, it will melt.

JP! Finally, someone else who eats oatmeal uncooked - everyone else thinks I'm crazy. Pour some soy milk on it, add some berries - yum! They eat it "raw" in Denmark anyway, so it shouldn't be such an odd thing in this neighborhood.

Sometimes I cook it, but typically I mix it w/ youghurt. I also add to other things--if a veggie/meat stir fry is a little moist or I used too much olive oil, I'll add the oatmeal to soak up the extra grease.

O.K., quick observation. Love Thy Neighbor (see above) is a brand new user (55 minutes) who has resurrected and/or commented ("clicked") on all threads with a religious component and is sporting a decidedly religious avatar. BallardBear redux? Resurrected after getting blocked for religious posts? Hmmm.....

    Puh-lease.

Really, maybe it's the Welsh/Scottish/German part of me speaking, but are people getting enough oatmeal? 150 grams a day really helps.
