Unemployment is ending...and I still can't find a job. I have a ton of experience in editing, writing, event planning and donor relations, as well as your everyday offie skills like bookkeeping and office management.

You mean office skills like using spell check?
Jules - long shot, but if you haven't already tried, check out the Gates Foundation - would seem up you alley, and many openings.
if you want to join the sisterhood I have a few connections
Hi Jules...you are not alone in searching for a job! I am unemployed as well. There are a lot of different job websites online that you can look at I am sure you already have! You might be able to file for an extension on your UE? Also if you haven't made an appointment at the unemployment office to get some ideas and help maybe on your resume...I would suggest doing that! If you need a contact at the work source office send me and email and I can give you contact info...thewiseone underscore 2007 at yahoo dot com ...good luck! Keep smiling and dont give up!
Hang in there, you two. I'll keep my eyes open.
Thewiseone - you may want to edit your last post to make your e-mail address more obscure (like thewiseone underscore 2007 at yahoo dot com) so you don't end up with spam galore.
Jules - it's so nice to have you back!!!
Thanks Msballard30....I just had an awesome interview...so fingers cross...job located in Ballard too! I am applying for 10-20 jobs a day! That is really what you need to do to get a job...and to make it a job...searching for a job!
The best of luck to you, tw1! Let us know how it goes! And it was nice meeting you (and your sister?) at the garage sale this past weekend.
Hi Jules,
I just got this job posting yesterday. I don't know if it would be something you are interested in, but I thought I would post it here anyway.
Try hospitals, healthcare, anything in that field. They have tons of openings, many in admin positions.
Yikes. Good luck, Jules. I dread the day that I run out of extensions. Have you heard of Indeed.com? It's kind of one stop shopping for the job search. Weed through it carefully, though. Even temp agencies use that site to advertise.
Also try getting a recruiter...they are very helpful! Ajilon is located downtown and I use them and they are great! You can email me and I can give you contact info if needed!
I hear ya Nora Bell..hopefully you will find a job and will not have to worry about your ext running out! Keep positive thoughts gf! :-D
Do you have AP/AR experience? If so, Ajilon is listing a job which (I think) may be the firm I worked at in 2005. I have a good relationship with the HR person there. They prefer it if people know ProLaw, but you can learn that easily. Let me know if you have any experience in that area and I will try and do what I can to get you in the door, okay?
Are you still looking? Today I saw a Help Wanted sign at Airlight Venetian Blind Co on 8th. They're looking for someone to sell and install high end window coverings, like Hunter-Douglas. http://www.blindservice.com/
If you call, ask for Sam.
Kind of a shot in the dark, but a number of years ago I was facing a similar situation where my unemployment was running out and my interviewers kept thinking that I was missing *something* and not sticking out in the crowd.
I had saved up some money, so I decided to roll the dice and took a class in my field. I figured at the very worst it would at least give me some credibility that I knew what I was doing and keeping current. Turns out that it was one of the best ideas I ever had - I got to network with lots of people in my class, and eventually I even found a job through my instructor. Plus it gave me something to do once a week, including homework.
I'm not going to pretend that this is the perfect solution, but maybe someone will find it useful. Good luck!
yeah me too. only a few weeks into my first extension though so i have time but i feel pretty screwed because the res is pretty decent so i can't even take a crap job because it's obvious i'd bounce at the first fat salary.
