  1. Wilderness Ken and I are both down with sinus infections, work got crazy busy, and construction ran behind, all making for more of a Masochistic rather than Hedonistic themed party, so we're postponing it to June 12th. We hope you can make it then! There will be more working bathrooms, less packing boxes and hosts who aren't carrying communicable diseases! Yea!

We hope you can make it then.

Take your time getting better and completing your move/remodel, WB. We can party anytime.

WTF? Do you people not have Facebook accounts? Email accounts? What fuels your urge to publically announce shite like this? Does it make you feel popular or something? Compensating for inadequacies lingering for decades?

wb, get lots of rest. I get those too and they are miserable.

I didn't think I could go to the 5/22 one (have a marathon that a.m. and usually I am pretty whupped by the evening) but 6/12 *might* be an option :) Would love to see your new place.

Feel better soon! And those remodel projects have a tendency to take a bit longer than everyone thinks.

Milo, Again I ask you what is with all the douchebaggery?
This party was talked about on this forum because a lot of people here were included, invited, and expected. Posting the postponement announcement is simply being courteous to those who were planning on attending.
If anyone is grasping at straws in an attempt to compensate for inadequacies I should think it is you.

Sounds like a humdinger! Lots and lots and lots of awkward, Star Trek memorbilia-wearing, middle-aged career failures.

The day Milo got laid off Starwars was on TV complete with commercials. Feeling understandably bitter and un-appreciated and angry at himself for watching TV, he needed an outlet for his anger. What better venue than the unsuspecting folks on the forum. Welcome aboard Milo. Don't feel bad if you actually ARE invited to the shindigs! People who come on strong with the oh-so-witty and perfunctory criticisms tend to come around pretty quickly. You're going to need a community around you in these tough times.

You know Milo I will defend your furniture disposal methods to the death (or at least until something important comes up), but if people want to live in the world as if one can be broadly and publicly social in one's community that to me seems like a good thing. It shows a faith in the goodness of the world and of people.

While this mode of socializing is generally not my thing (facebook and that old school method the telephone drive my social life), isn't what WB is doing commendable? Not that I don't admire your sense of brash realism, but don't you want to live in a world where inviting random local folks over is okay? I for one say bully for the people who have faith in people and community.

  16. Milo- It might be wise to lay low for awhile and/or read a bunch of older threads before commenting so brusquely, as you seem to put your foot in your mouth more often than not.

Yes, this was on Facebook and MyPunchbowl... I know some people had made plans for hair appointments and babysitters and wanted to make sure I got the word out to everyone ASAP in all the places it's been talked about. This is not just a MyBallard party, our pre-existing friends and family will be there too, with total yes RSVP's around 50+.

Thank you for the words of support, they make me feel better as it feels like my eyeballs are going to pop out of my skull, ugh. Perhaps some Pad Thai might help...

wb, I think spicy food helps. There was a thread here at some point that talked about remedies...I know saline rinses help too.

A couple years ago I had a truly nasty sinus and double ear infection. I was deaf in one ear for two weeks and was probably lucky my eardrums didn't break, there was so much pressure.

Of course there's the saline flush

When you're feeling truly miserable, there's sitting in the shower with the water on your head. The shower has gotten me through more illnesses than I care to count.

There's steam inhalations - if you're the herbal sort, you can put a little essential thyme oil in it. Thyme is antibiotic in nature. It's mild though, so you can't let up. When I did, that's when all hell broke loose.

If you're the pill sort, the behind-the-counter sudafed will work wonders. The doc will probably tell you to take this anyways, if you're that bad off.

And if you're not feeling better in a couple days, there's just no substitute for a round of antibiotics.

You have to be careful with the netti pot - or any kind of sinus rinse when you already HAVE an infection brewing - you could just spread the infection around with the rinse. I did that and ended up in the ER with a double ear infection and double sinus infection - it was the pits.

Lots of fluids. Maybe some pho - with lots of chili sauce.

WB, I hope you're better soon.

For temporary, instant relief put one hand on your spouse's forehead and the other on the back of the head and squeeze. You can do this for each other. As soon as the squeezing stops, the pressure comes back but for the 30 seconds or so, it feels great.

WB: so sorry to hear this! I TRULY hope all feel better soon. Oddly enough, I saw WK last night as I was sipping on a few brews at King's. He was getting his hair trimmed at Rudy's. He also "tailed me" driving into work this morning on 15th. pretty cool that you guys are over here in the 'hood now indeed! Please let me know if I can bring anything over to you two to make you feel better. Being sick sucks.

So, on another note--since I was planning on the party, I am still going to go out and *play* I think, saturday night in Ballardland. Anyone wanna meet up with me to do so together? Cool. have a great stormy day today folks.
