TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF when you arrive home after 10:00 p.m.

I was actually sound asleep and the a$%#&*e who lives above me came clomping in at just past midnight. Clomp, clomp, clomp, clomp - sounds like there's a woman with him tonight because there's another sound like maybe 4" heels. Clomp, clomp, clomp, tap, tap, tap. He proceeded to put on loud music with heavy bass. Clomp, clomp, clomp, tap, tap, tap, ... music so loud they have to yell. I know what's next so I might as well just stay up for another hour or so.

I've complained to him face to face, put notes on his door, complained to the management but it falls on deaf ears.

Really, get a rug - take off your shoes - have some respect.

Only 35 more nights of this and then I get to be on top...yep, I'm finally moving - staying at the same complex but in 35 more nights I'll be on the top floor and BONUS...no more buses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Nora, at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there.

I'm sorry you're having to deal with inconsiderate neighbors. Would earplugs help do you think until you get to move? Yay by the way about getting to move! What a relief that will be! If I'm not happy and comfortable in my home it just makes everything much harder in all areas of my life - glad to hear the right place came open for you!

"but it falls on deaf ears"
Maybe that's why he's so loud is because he can't actually hear anything? Ok ... probably not!

Yikes. Sorry about clomper. That sucks.

Patience, you'll soon be away from him and those rumbling, idling buses. :-)

While my upstairs neighbors don't have wooden floors, the are quite creaky (the floors, not the neighbors). And the water going through the pipes makes a lot of noise. I only recently started wearing earplugs and am no longer woken up by any of it. Hooray! You might want to give it a shot, Nora.

I'm sorry you have had to deal with that but congrats on getting a top floor unit! I've been dealing with the awful neighbors above me since I moved here almost 3years ago and I so can't wait to move. These people are horrible, harrassing from about 2 weeks into the move here, dropping heavy items middle of the night, all through the day, getting worse with complaints and then rubbing something on my door and running upstairs and management does nothing. I swear I get some awful ideas in my head of what I want to do to these people and have to slap myself for thinking things.
It's frustrating too looking at the rentals on craigslist and seattlerentals and either finding a 2bd that has people over you which I refuse to move with someone over my head again or you find the place too much OR for some other reason the landlord won't rent over some old, past credit flaws. I keep telling myself, one day I won't have to rent! Arg.
