My gnomes have never been taken but I had a cute little frog decoration that was stolen last year. I'm still upset about it. Hope it's found, I'll keep my eyes open too.

Who steals a garden gnome? I mean, really. I have a little gargoyle that's lived outside my apartment door (and my house before that) for years. I would be bummed if someone walked off with George.

Biting tongue out of respect for stolen garden gnome.
Will keep my eye out, but you know he's in a back yard or another 'hood by now.

Have you gotten any ransom notes from the GGLF? (Garden Gnome Liberation Front)

I didn't take him, I only take underpants. Yikes, what if someone steals me??

Thank you, ecw, for helping your friend get the news out about her missing gnome. I sympathize with the loss of her friendly gnome and the "loss of innocence" that this kind of thing causes...it's a bummer for all the gnomes and their friends in the Whittier Heights neighborhood.
Fingers crossed that he returns as mysteriously as he disappeared with his enigmatic gnomey smile intact.

Watch for gnomie as you yard / garage sale this weekend!

"i remember a couple of years ago when some asshat stole my yard Buddha. man i was pissed!"
I just found that really funny. Getting pissed about a Buddha. HA! Don't mean to be a jerk, I just thought it was funny!

well obviously your friend didn't care about the gnome, leaving it out in the yard like that. I'm sure some do-gooder just found it a better home on her behalf.
i hope your friend is luckier than others and gets her gnome back!

ballarddad: i am glad *you* got it. i thought it was funny too.

You are kidding, right, shallow.end? Soon enough we will have to have tall walls with broken shards of glass and razer wire around our houses, like Brazil, or something, just to keep our gnomes safe at home...

Julesage: You never know on this forum if someone is kidding or not! You might laugh at something and then next thing you know it's an unholy sh*t storm :) Glad to see a little humor injected here :) Ok, highjack over...

There's a gnome thief? This is troubling news. I was looking forward to putting out my extensive lawn gnome colelction today. :(
Posted 2 years ago # -
You settled in already miss julie?
Remember, north of 65th Street lawn gnomes are restricted to 30 feet in height. South of 65th they can go to 60 feet.
Apparently we need to develop an exploding dye pak for underneath the gnomies that would go off when they're lifted from the ground.
Only instead of coloring the kidnapper's legs & feet with bright glop, which wouldn't look too unusual around here, it would spray eau de garter snake mixed with skunk & ferret stink of a type that would increase in intensity on contact with any kind of soap.Posted 2 years ago # -
ecw...oh no, not again ! it must be the heat...I remember this happened last summer. pictures giving hints of the location were sent and posted...we all were posting ideas of where it might be.....will keep my eyes open for yer little guy...

Maybe if we all click our heels together and chant "there's no place like gnome there's no place like gnome" he be back? Minus the wicked witch of course.

Oh gnoe! this is terrible news.
I know this dude, he usually cats around in the garden so I would imagine being stuck on a hot porch was the final straw.
And what's the big deal, Milo was out cattin around for a couple of days before anyone had a concern.I will ask Kurt with shovel and sven with book if they have seen the dude in the light blue shirt recently (teal pants! really, who dresses this guy)? It's bad enough with the red pointy hat.
A gnome should be allowed some time to cut loose, hang on the corner or head out for a brewski with their gnomies.I wish for your gnome to come home. But really, dressed like that in public? I don't know if he'll survive.
Best of luck to you,
G

LOL, thanks Gnomie. :)
And yes I remember the gnome thief last year too, but a picture of that one showed up. So far no picture, so this isnt a roaming gnome. I feel badly for my friend, sentimental value and all...Posted 2 years ago # -
Sorry about your missing gnome. Please give us an update.
I have a gnome also, and he is very precious: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=107324&id=100001127111803
