What Cate said, by cracky. Plus...

It seems like only a couple months ago I was helping out a little at a yard sale & Alonzo Neighbor insisted on giving me a saucer sized button that said "NO WHINING".

Well OK, that's the spirit. How about everybody on this thread stop whining & get your buns down to Golden Gardens on Friday for a little levity, a few jokes, some impromptu snacks, maybe a cool sunset, some offleash bicyclists to bitch at...

And how about everybody on the next thread & the previous thread & so on do the same? Shall we borrow the banner & hang it over a friendly Ballard gathering or do the trolls win?

Or not. There's a lot to be said, on the other hand, in favor of spending a sunny afternoon stubbing your fingers on your keyboard in the gloom as you glare at your monitor.

At the spring gathering, I just got a new job. At the summer gathering I was still working. Now here we are at the fall gathering and thankfully I'm still working. I will try to drag myself and kid down there being as it's Friday and she won't have to go to bed so early, but I can't make any promises. She often has her own agenda.

cdp, if you are bringing your kid, I am coming! What an enchanting little girl she is. Too bad my doggie can't be on the beach.
Oh, let me know if you need me to bring the big dog crate along.

Malia, sorry I didn't make it by this past weekend. I had to help my Aunt move and then Sunday out to see the in laws.

If I don't make it on Friday, we will definitely come by on Saturday to have a look. I'll email.

Smartsy - i am sorry for bringing your fine name into the other discussion. Your name was just the first that popped into my head for someone who uses their MB name on the ballard peeps.

I sadly cannot attend the get together. I will be in Las Vegas. Jennifer Holloway!!!! Jennifer Holloway!!!! Previous attempts to join you people have always ended in car failure anyway.

Just a quick headsup - I won't be able to go tomorrow. I could go for an hour or two, but I won't have the car. Just thought I'd let y'all know.

  15. Malia- Just bring what you can to share; don't worry about the number of people, we'll just share and sample what there is. It will be nice to meet you; glad you'll be coming!

My back is still hurting, so I don't know if we'll be making it or not. As of now I feel terrible, so don't count us in, sadly. :(

Phoo - I will be arriving early but not staying long. If anybody is interested, I'll have a box of lovely ripe tomatoes from my garden - early girls and romas. Not to worry, there are more on the vine for the food bank:)

thanks alonzo. Send me a private msg on fb 30 mins before you plan to take off. I need to get these photos from SAS (really cute guinea pigs they have right now!) edited and mailed off before I go play somewhere. the weather is so awesome too! If I don't get these done in time to join you, someone drink an extra beverage and soak up extra sun for me! I'll be collecting the vitamin D from you later. ;)

I'm so sad I missed it! I started a new job on Monday and have been so exhausted all week that I haven't been on the forum and it slipped my mind completely. Sad :( Hopefully there will be another get together soon!

  26. It was a very nice relaxing evening by the fire! The beach was beautiful in the darkness, and it was very nice to see those who attended, and meet new people. Thanks to iPlod and Cate for the firewood.

Nora Charles, you were the Friday Night Cookie Fairy. Your bag of chocolate chip cookies was, well, as well received as certain other things (in brown paper bags) that might be passed around by a group standing around a fire.

Yes, thanks to those who got the fire going, and looked after it. It's been years since I've sat around a fire on that beach.

Thank you JP for instigating this & a big thank you to everybody else who made the effort to attend. I had big fun, hope you did too.
My main draw was the chance sit at a cozy bonfire in the presence of good Ballard company, well behaved pooches included, as we marked off another notch in the cycle of life while relaxing in the ambiance of twilight as it became a metaphore for the fading of 2010,s summer season.

Lot's of drool inducing hot food there too.

Due to the recent sea change in my life, I can't begin to tell you how cathartic this gathering was for me. Thank you all.

Cate, I was thrilled to finally put a face to a name. I've always admired your level headed logic in all of your posts. (Well... except for that ONE.) (jus kddn)

Nora Charles, I'm thanking the kind strangers next door to us for enabling me to enjoy your delicious cookies, because without their offer of a lighter & some paper, I would have been forced to rub all your cookies against each other in order to start our bonfire. They were yum, sorry I couldn't tell you that in person.

Malia had some very interesting stories to tell about her being in Iran during the Shah's regime while we were gazing at the flames.

I may be wrong, it seemed Smartsy's doggy was disappointed nobody had brought marshmallows to roast. :)

A great big apology to Streaker Troll.

I'm soooo sorry I mistook you for one of the logs & tossed you into the fire.
    My bad.
It was too dark for me to make out your blue hair (what's left of it,now).
Probably wouldn't have happened if you had been wearing your saucer sized "No Whining" button like you said you were gonna.
But if it'll help, I have a file & some silly putty for fixing those blisters.

Streaker couldn't make it thanks to a nauseous stomach bug, it was fun, you should all try getting one! BUT, I intend to make it to the next one of these get together thingamajiggers. And I'll even bring said no whining button ;-) Oh yeah, and beer, mustn't forget the beer.

iPlod--I instigated, yes, as a couple o' times before, but as lame as it may sound, just had to sit this one out. My poor Kopf was just not in the right place. No worries, there will be other gatherings, the winter solstice offers another opportunity.
In fact, outdoor gatherings at the solstices and equinoxes may be a nice idea. One may have to brave the wx; e.g., the outdoor bit may be brief for the winter equinox, for example, but it seems like a nice idea as I currently sit comfortably at my keyboard . . . :)
