Found a black, white and brown kitten (no collar) hiding in the bushes of our front yard after hearing non-stop meowing under our window at 4 am.

Very friendly, lured it into a pet carrier, so it's safe for now, but we have two dogs so can't keep it for long.

If it's yours, please email me at dlanding (at) gmail (dot) com

Any update on owners? Any flyers in the area yet? I'm sure this little one is very lonesome for its owners. Possibly it might have a chip that a vet can check out for you.

Thanks JustanotherNorwegian! I haven't heard from anyone yet.

I posted a craigslist ad and flyers on our block. I will try to take the kitty to the vet later today to scan for a chip. He or she is very friendly and seems healthy, so I'm sure there are owners out there somewhere.

If you have kids in the neighborhood, they are a great resource. Also maybe taking the kitten and going to a couple of your nearby neighbors to see if they are missing the kitten. Cats normally do not venture very far when lost.
A nearby vet may have a poster there.

dlanding, you live about a block from us. I'll keep my eye out for posted signs for a lost cat - I either walk or run the neighborhood pretty much daily. If a temporary foster home is needed (we have five cats, we are almost scary cat people) we could probably help out. Hopefully the kitten is chipped though....

my e-mail is teigyr, it's at the same domain where yours is. Let me know if I can be of any help.

The kitten has no chip and a normal number of toes, so the search for the owner continues...

Thanks so very much for the offer teigyr, I think we'll see how the dogs do today, this kitten seems pretty tough. :-)

Check My Phinney - they have a listing for a lost tortoise cat. It's 7 years old - but that doesn't really mean anything. My cat, at the age of 12, people thought was a kitten. The avatar looks like yours. Missing time fits also.

And even though the missing cat had on a collar - that, too, doesn't mean anything. My cats, over the years, have lost tons of collars in their adventures.

Good news! We found a dog-free, cat-friendly foster home for miss kitten. So she's in good hands for now.

Thanks JustanotherNorwegian, I'll check with the Phinneywood poster, though it looks like that cat is much larger and has different markings.

There is a phone number to call. It's just too much of a coincidence. My cat, full grown, was only 7 pounds and like I said passed for a kitten until the day he died.
