How come there is always water at the top of Shilshole...close to Market and 24th...no matter what the weather one can always bank on water being there. Why is that? Sometimes there's a lot of water...sometimes just a little but I don't think I've ever seen it dry. Anyone know?

There was a water main break there awhile back. Zee city has only repaired it once, that means they still have to dig it up and repair it at least 1-2 more times.

i've been wondering about this too nora charles (it's just outside the old skate shop.) i've been driving down 24th to shilshole for the past 5 years, and i don't recall a water main break there.

just a couple of years ago during the big freeze of 2008, i "wondered" on this board about a constant leak at the south corner of the NOMA building on 24th (it had been leaking since the completion of the bulding). during the cold weather it became quite a treacherous stretch of 24th when the water froze. a few months later the water leak stopped. and now something is leaking 2 blocks directly south and downhill from the previous leak.

Well, just yer standard ancient sub-street plumbing that all needs replacement. Same reason the huge main under the university bridge blew awhile back.

This water was not there when it was just the eagles club. I wondered where it was coming from and one day found water coming out of a pipe cemented into the curb. I suspect it is connected to a sump pump in the lowest level of the parking garage of the condo complex.
