    Goodnight room

    Goodnight moon

Goodnight cow jumping over the moon

Goodnight light and the red balloon

    Goodnight bears, goodnight chairs

    Goodnight kittens and goodnight mittens

    Goodnight clocks and goodnight socks

Goodnight little house and goodnight mouse

    Goodnight comb and goodnight brush

    Goodnight nobody

    Goodnight mush

And goodnight to the old lady whispering "hush"

    Goodnight stars

    Goodnight air

    Goodnight noises everywhere!

    --Until maƱana, Streaker out!

ST is like that friends annoying little brother, constantly looking for attention from the big kids and not quite mature enough to have a filter. He should start every post with "hey you guys!"

That being said he doesn't bother me and makes me chuckle at times. Especially at the people who think internet forums are serious business.

    "... needy poster."

Not so much BR. Theres just nothing you aren't annoyed by. Yes, crotchety BR strikes again. You should really stop armchair psychoanalyzing everyone on here, you're shitty at it :-)

ST, I hadn't thought of that little poem in years! Thank you! My grandma Leah (1898-2001) used to recite it to my sister and me when we stayed over at her place. Sometimes she would improvise lines or would riff a bit on a line or two that struck her fancy. She'd also play the accordian as she sang. My sister and I were riveted. So many memories . . . Saturday morning my folks would give us bus fare and we'd ride out to Culver City to spend the weekend with her. Later, as we were a bit older, we'd ride our bicycles out there. She was also the best homework helper ever, I still use her words and examples when I'm helping a kid who is struggling with grammar or algebra. Then, my folks would drive out on Sunday in my father's company car, a Ford Fairlane 500, for Sunday dinner, fried chicken with mashed potatos and gravy. Oh, yes, and some poor vegetable cooked beyond recognition. Oma would engage my sister and me fully in the preparation of the meal. I still have her cast iron skillet she purchased in 1920 from Sears and while I will never be able fully to recreate her Sunday dinner, the taste and especially the smells, I've come dang close!

Lke JP, the post brought back a flood of memories for me too . . . How many hundred, if not thousand of times did I recite 'Goodnight Moon' to my each of my daughters when they were little and it was bedtime? Thanks for the post, ST!

I've lost count of how many copies of Goodnight Moon I've given to new parents over the years. It's a classic! Thanks, Streaky!
