There was a post on the forums a while back about some local butchers. I am in need of some brisket and was hoping the MyBallard faithful had some suggestions. Thanks!

I recommend AJ's at on Queen Anne (which is also across from Eat Local and you can pick up the caramelized onion pizza as an appetizer!).

There is Better Meat Co on 3rd and (I believe) 82nd, however they don't seem to like walk ins and the meat I did get from there after almost being refused wasn't very good. Like the others above, you'll probably have to drive a bit. I go to Bob's Quality Meats in Columbia City. James, the owner (Bob was his grandfather), is a 4th generation butcher and really knows about his meat and where it comes from and he cuts it all by hand there. I've never had better meat or had better service anywhere. I'd say its reasonably priced too, some things like ground beef are cheaper there then the same quality (ya, right!) that I find at the store.

No butcher left in the 'hood. I am a loyal fan of Don & Joe's in the Pike Place Market. I go early morning so that regardless of the time of year, parking is no problem and there isn't a crowd of tourists waiting for fish to get tossed.

  6. I gotta second the Bob's recommendation! Pick up a couple pounds of smoked bacon, multiple sides of pork ribs & some Boudin. Just wish they where closer to the house.

Thanks for all the great suggestions...I went with the closest (A&J) but I smoke and BBQ quite often so I plan to check out all the others you mentioned. I love this website btw. You guys are awesome. :)
