Having a "laze-off" competition with the cat. So far, I am up 2-0 from having cheated using a laser pointer but the battery on the laptop's running out and she might get the next point :(

Editing photos! Usually I'm not excited, but this is a reshoot of shy bunnies that are hard not to make them look scaredy. I guess the natural light brought out the model of them, cause they did awesome today!

My big holiday of the year is Thanksgiving, so Christmas is pretty much an extra day off. My shopping will be done when the stores are free from crazed, hurried and angry shoppers. 2 more days til I can buy groceries and go to the Goodwill again!

Baked the potatoes for twice baked potatoes this morning, and just stuffed them; baked the dessert right after the potatoes while the oven was hot. Picked up the prime rib at QFC. Now I just need to wrap a few presents before noon tomorrow.

I'm kinda glad that my kid lives with friends and spends Christmas Eve with his dad. I'm thinking of going to a 9:00 caroling service. Always wanted to do that Christmas Eve and couldn't talk anyone else into going. Hope I'm still awake to do it this year.

Did have to vacuum (which is usually against my religion), so the cats are still giving me dirty looks.

Safe and happy Christmas to all.

Streaker wrapped gifts earlier today in his normally quick fashion. Git er done!

Now, Streaker is editing photos, just like phoo apparently. Gotta make those deadlines!

...Mannheim Steamroller’s Christmas CD is playing in the background, just finished wrapping presents and have a chicken enchilada casserole in the oven with a Free Papa John's Pizza on the way for the Teenager. Intermittently playing on-line SCRABBLE with my BFF's in the Midwest and nibbling on some really awesome Peanut Butter Balls from the neighbors "Upstairs :)" They are YUMMY !

Hmm..so just how did they know Peanut Butter Balls were my favorite ???? They must read MyBallard too ?

CD has changed over to John Denver and the Muppet's "12 Days of Christmas"
"It's A Wonderful Life" comes on NBC at 8PM.
so, in short, all is good in my 'hood :o)

    Merry Christmas MyBallardites.

Just back from checking on the chickens next door (got two eggs!) and feeding the cat across the street. Did our traditional swap of holiday goodies with neighbors and now settling in with a jigsaw puzzle.

Tried to have Chinese in honor of the great American tradition espoused in A Christmas Story, but they were so busy at Louie's we could only manage an appetizer after waiting an hour.
Just pulled out the prime rib to sit out on the counter overnight. Mmmmmmm... extra bacteria.

PG, somehow my in laws have been able to keep this tradition up with 4 sons all the way into adulthood. I'm overjoyed to be starting it with our own little boy this year rather than next.

I'm also looking forward to that glass of champagne later tonight.

    PG-

Our good friend Hugh Whittingstall-Fearnly of River Cottage fame encourages me to take more chances with my meat. For instance, I cleared out one of my veggie drawers a week ago, unwrapped the rib and set it on a rack to age & dry. Now I season it (salt/sugar and other secret ingredients) and let it sit in a cool spot in the kitchen for about 12-hours. The bacteria in the air naturally breaks it down a bit for you so it's even more tender and flavorful.
In the River Cottage Meat Book, Hugh tells us of a time when you hung your brace of pheasants at the back porch until the heads naturally separated from the bodies. But, some of us aren't quite that gutsy. I'll stick with fresh sushi & poultry for now, but zee swine and zee beef they are allowed to sit and mellow awhile.

Oh, and if you're someone who got cookies, have no fear I don't take those chances with food I give to others. I even used non-latex, rubber-gloves during portions of the cookie preparation. I promise I was really safe.

One of my family members used to hang Pheasants until they almost moved by themselves. In his shed. He also went to jail for 30 days for Poaching. I kid you not. Blaggards! All of 'em!

Nice drinking session with Jeorgebob @ Molly's tonight. He brought a little pic-a-nic basket of snackies. The owner Finbar was @ the next table and didn't bat an eye at us bringing in our own munchies. Great talking with Geo and others from the 'hood.

Saw the 'Nutty Nutcracker' at PNB. Having never seen the normal one, I needed quite a bit of coaching on what exactly was 'nutty' about it.

Ah, yes, the noon show on the 24th. It's very much like the "real" one, but with a few added thrills, like the dumping of the snowbags at and end of Act 1.

There is a ton going on backstage that you don't see, the whole thing is a lot of fun.

Oh Monty Python. Easily one of Streakers favorite British shows. Along with Red Dwarf. And Spooks! Spooks is what "24" here on this side of the pond should have been like. Now make Streaker some chicken vindaloo before he goes to sleep, you smeghead!

    Posted 2 years ago #
  34. We watched Ned Kelly and went to bed kinda early. Worked yesterday and am on my way to work now. Happy whatever to all youse. And Streaker, yer welcome. (also, Red Dwarf is the best. That is all)

Allisonw, they had a 4 PM show this year too. The funniest thing in it was when they arrived by boat to the island, they got an TSA style 'enhanced patdown', no one expected that!

We started by watching Tim Burton's "Nightmare Before Christmas," but the hubby got sick of all of the singing, so we put on Eddie Izzard's Live at Wembley Stadium - I love that guy in drag!
