    This is on Craigslist -
"This dog was found at the parking lot of Mud Bay Granary in Ballard today. A guy totaled his car on 15th and the car was left in the mud bay parking lot with the her in it. She was then left in the parking lot by the tow truck. Anyone know anything?

why in the world would the tow truck driver have left the dog in the parking lot?

I was there just after it happened, the SUV was parked on the street (the Mud Bay lot was full of cars for El Camion -- I was buying dog food in a very empty store -- my car was actually partially blocked in by someone who was down there as well when I went to leave). I left just as the tow truck arrived, so I couldn't see if the tow truck driver took a dog out, but being a lookeloo I did scope out the SUV as I came in -- and waited to leave and I saw no white thing popping it's head up to look around as they are wont to do. I can't recall, a window might have been partially down, or the dog could have just escaped when the tow truck driver opened the door to set it in gear for towing. I also only recall two police cruiser's, two officer's and no car owner -- the damage was minimal enough that I can't imagine they need to go to hospital.

I would also suggest that whoever has the dog call the North Precinct and explain the situation to them, they can probably figure out a way to arrange a reunion between dog and owner without violating any privacy rules.

As I said, I just saw this on Craigslist, and it really bothers me. I don't know who the poster is - someone from Mud Bay, or someone walking by? I did email them and make suggestions similar to yours, mostobstreperous.

  6. How awful. What reason would the "owner" have for leaving the dog? If it is not a REALLY good reason, I'm not sure the dog should be returned.

I woke up this morning from a frightening dream that someone I entrusted LB to gave her to someone else; someone I didn't know. She is a white-ish terrier.
