As someone who supports Chelsea and the Sounders, Super Frank going to LA is pretty much worst case scenario for me.

Anyone else think that redcard in Saturday's Sounders game was more about the blood than the actual foul?
It looks to me like pretty clean play. Sure its rough, but it looks like incidental contact.

The referee didn't see a foul as the play happened. You can see him actually waive it off...then after the play had stopped Leo ran up to him all bloodied and that caused him to consult with the AR and the 4th official. I think what happened in that conversation is that the referee asked them if the contact was head-to-head or if the Dallas players elbow made the contact. They confirmed it was his elbow and then the red card came out. If Leo was not gushing blood, no foul and no card.

Yeah he was not looking good when he walked by me. I was down on the field at that point by the tunnel and it was hard to not go his way. An elbow always is cocked a little when you go up, but when you make contact to the head and that hard of contact it should be a card and most likely a red.
That being said, it was a great game and Alonso aside, I for once am not afraid of LA this weekend. We are clicking like crazy right now.

I saw the play and thought there was no foul.
I hate to see a penalty awarded because of perceived injury.
as a big hockey fan, I have always been bothered that high-sticking penalties are double (4 minutes instead of 2) when the action draws blood.
some guys are certainly pinching their skin after getting clipped to draw the double-minor.that was a great game tho--they are on an offensive roll.

"Research has shown that players who hit the ball with their heads often have brain abnormalities similar to people who are known to have had concussions."
20 years from now, after there is more data, I wonder which sport will have the highest incidence of brain related injuries?
