The owner died and they are now in a Bremerton shelter. Both are part black lab, one is part piranese (sorry for the spelling. I mean that large long haired dog breed). The other is smaller and we aren't sure what he's mixed with. Both male. Both friendly, especialy the bigger one. I may be able to get pictures later, but I don't have any right now.
Let me know if interested and I'll get you in touch with the previous owner's mother.

Shots. But only the smaller one is fixed. I think at one point she wanted to breed him because he's such a good looking dog, but it never happened. I miss my sister so much it aches, but I have to admit she was an idiot about such things.
Example: I've got one of her cat's kittens.

And that's something else. They have both lived happily with a cat.

Nora Bell, I have no room for more dogs, but just wanted to say I am sorry for your loss. Good on you for looking after the animals. Best of luck finding them new homes.

Hrm... Wouldn't want to separate them. Certainly no room for two dogs under Puget Sound, one at the most. So I shall have to regrettably pass.

And sorry to hear that it was your sister. Best wishes!

Oh, Nora. Heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I haven't room for any more pets right now but I hope the two companions get a home together. Thank you for caring about them at this time.

Thanks all! I really hate crying and finding homes for the dogs is a worthy distraction. That, and cleaning the bathroom.

I think they're okay seperated. The smaller one (Cooper) is a tad unsocial anyway. A nice dog and, in fact, I really wish I had room for him. But he likes to sit off by himself sometimes and think on things. :-)

Nora Bell, I am sorry to hear of your loss. If you cannot find a home for the doggies, I suggest contacting Homeward Pet, an awesome no-kill shelter in Woodinville. (That's where I got my fab dog. She was 5 years old, or so, at the time.) They do a good job of screening prospective owners so you can be assured the dogs will go to a good home.

Take care and all the best in the coming weeks.

I was just on the Cheezburger site, and when I checked the Hotdog side, this week's "Breed of the Week" just happens to be the Great Pyrenees. I'm hoping this is a good sign, since that was the second time that breed was mentioned in less than an hour.

I'll keep you in my thoughts, NB. Tonight's the first night of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, so I'll be thinking good thoughts about your family's doggies, as well as you. I'm so, SO sorry for your loss.

NoraBell, really sorry for the loss of your sister. Maybe you can ask around at local pet shops like MudBay and All the Best and see if you can post ads looking for new owner for these great pooches.

Nora Bell - So very sorry to hear about your sister. I know how it hurts to lose a sibling - you have my sympathy. I wish I was ready to commit to a dog again. Will pass the word on to my dog rescue friends.

  15. Nora Bell: I'm very sorry for your pain. She would be so appreciative for your effort to find homes for "her boys". If you get pics, I will make a flyer or two for you. That way, you can leave it at/send it to Mud Bay, Doggie Day Cares,Vets etc. Just like anything else, an eye-catching flyer will get notice. Many of these places have a book for adopters to look through. I'll send you one I did in the past for a dog I fostered.

Nora Bell, I am sorry for your loss and hope you find a good home for your sisters pups.
There is a "no pet" policy where we live but will certainly spread the word to friends and relatives who are connected to rescue groups.

Thanks you, everyone for the kind thoughts. I just got home from mom's. We couldn't find any pictures of the dogs but there have to be some somewhere. My sister took a lot of pictures of those dogs. So, maybe by Wednesday I'll have pics loaded.

NB: I'm so sorry to imagine that the lovely smiles you and your mom (who I met at the Molly gig) have been silenced after the unfortunate death of your sister. I can't begin to imagine the sadness you're feeling. I'm holding you very close to my heart and have a ready hug available if needed.

Thank you for all the condolances. It's always amazing to me how wonderful and supportive this My Ballard group is. :-)

Nora Bell I am so very sorry for the loss of your sister. We haven't met and I don't frequent the board but am a regular of sorts. If there is anything I can do to help?
I am a Pet Photographer...No fees and no hidden fees-I would be honored to accompany you to the shelter and take some nice photographs, put them online, print them and post some at local shops etc.

Please consider my offer, I can give you references from some nice people here that you know, and they can attest that I've no ulterior motive. God bless, heal freely, and if you don't find the photos your sister took..anyone you know that can even snap a few would be helpful, lab mixes are great dogs and make great pets.

Oh, Hummingbird, thank you! That's very, very generous. My mom might be interested. I'm talking to her later tonight. Is there an e-mail I can give her?

Nora, I'm so very sorry for your loss. If only I could have dogs here, I would take them both. If there is anything at all I can do, please let me know. If you don't have my personal email anymore, just give a holler on this thread. My prayers are with you and your lovely family...

Ballardgirl - A neighbor they know well is who actually took them to the shelter so right now we only know it's in Bremerton. I asked mom and it's called ARF (Animal Rescue Families) animalrescuefamilies.org.
Wally and Cooper aren't lsted yet, so they're probably still being prepped for adoption.

Sorry for the silence. Turns out my sister's neighbor was talking out of his arse and we had to make a few phone calls to find where the dogs actually were.

Cooper (black lab and something smaller mix) is at Pasado's Safe Haven: www.pasadosafehaven.org

Wally (Possible black pyranese) is at the Kitsap Humane Society: www.kitsap-humane.org

Despite my urging to accept Hummingbird's generous offer, ma wants to take pictures herself. I think we're doing that tomorrow and I'll post pics here.
