@jburgh There’s a 10 minute time limit on editing, as many times as you want. (It was 5 minutes, but I increased it a bit.)
Take a look at the reply field now — made the lines darker and the title bold.
Keep the feedback coming!
Are you sure it emails by default? The notifications appear here on the site (under your profile or the drop-down in the upper right) but we haven’t seen them in email..?
@ernie We’re waiting to see if we’re successful keeping out the spammers before we enable images. Back in the early days of the forum, we had a problem with porn embeds.
(BTW I love that you can @ someone and it automatically links their profile)
I just posted in the other thread that I’ve turned indentation off. It was only working sporadically, which then made all the posts appear to be out of order. While I investigate a fix, I’ve turned it off, and posts are now strictly in order like in the old forum.
Thanks for your understanding!
@Everyone – For the time being, we’ve turned indentation off. It was working about half of the time, introducing all kinds of confusion because posts would then be out of order.
Now that I’ve turned it off, all posts are in order. I’ll keep investigating to see if I can fix it.
@nwcitizen – Good idea with login link. The “last reply” issue has been “fixed” for now with the indentation turned off.
Hey Ernie, don’t think the software has that option, but we can look in plugins to see if someone has thought of that feature.
A way to get around it would be to display a link to your Facebook page in the website/social field, and hide that to only your friends.
(And let’s see if this is indented, as it was a direct reply)
It’s baffling. Indent is working sometimes, not others. Definitely turned on in the admin, set to two levels deep. Hmmm.
Testing indentation again.

Testing the indentation.
Have no idea why it changed – it’s set for 2 levels deep in settings.
Just tweaked something to make things easier:
In the main site navigation, you’ll now see “new forum” and “old forum.”
Hope that helps?
We’re waiting on that one to see how the spam protection works. We have very bad memories from the early days of the forum of spammers posting embedded photos of porn.
Sorry about the wonkiness. When we launch, we’ll just have one forum so it will be easier (I’m hiding this one from the home page to give the old forum members a head start).
(UPDATE: I added “new forum” and “old forum” in the site navigation.)
Good ideas on the other forums. I’m still trying to figure out how to list the most recent posts on the /forums page, so if someone posted in a “missing pets” forum, for example, it would be seen by more people. Stay tuned…
