Plus the cost to Palm Beach for the police they provide, about $60k per day, out of their budget, which they can’t afford. Now asking either Trump pay or government. Trump says he has no plans to stop these weekend trips. If true, it would be for his term in office, $624million!
enough is enough
Pennygirl…so not saying you said that. Reading post again can see where you would get that idea. I was saying I thought you were the one who was the victim of that hateful comment about burning house down.
sooooo sorry for the misunderstanding.02/09/2017 at 2:07 pm in reply to: Do you think Ballard is worst now than it was 20 years ago? #85073
Well said, Edog.02/08/2017 at 6:11 pm in reply to: Do you think Ballard is worst now than it was 20 years ago? #85070
Edog, how witty of you! Forgot about your juvenile comments. So happy you haven’t changed.
And yes, when I first moved back to Ballard I only saw this woman who was living on the streets. She was a real mess and very combative. Now maybe in different part of Ballard there were more people with addiction problems..be it booze or drugs. But there were no tents, strewn garbage and she is truly the only one I saw who lived on streets with her shopping cart. But then more and more showed up in Ballard.02/04/2017 at 6:39 pm in reply to: Do you think Ballard is worst now than it was 20 years ago? #85056
Two words..Hell yes. I moved back to Ballard in 1985. There was one homeless person..a woman with mental issues who had anger issues. She eventually got help, I hope. There were no tents, garbage all over, needles. Felt safe walking by library day or night. There was a walking beat officer who sent troublemakers on their way. Low crime.
then they transferred that officer and slowly thechomeless, the transients with drinking, drug, mental issues filtered in.
I no longer go to our library. Too many incidents and last time I was there this transient started pscing behind me as I was on computer yelling, getthe f*ck off my computer. I was walking my dog down by 14th and had this drunk come after me with 2×4 with nail in it. At Burger King one blocked me in at drive thru. Burger King told me they would come and jump thru drive thru when bus stop across such a huge problem.
is it worse? It is beyond worse and we need a mayor who doesn’t tell police hands off to ones creating problems. Friend lives by him. Asked how many tents. None and when group tried at park, kicked them off and put up a gate. Here and elsewhere..turn their back. The garbage gets to ne, like under bridge by Trader Joe’s. Friend got notified by City would be fined if didn’t remove cooler from yard..cooler used during summer next to bbq.
Great Idea, I had been told I was too “wordy” so tried to cut it back (stop). Although there were some nasty trolls here, like one who hoped a person’s house would burn down (thinkm it was Pennygirl) I enjoyed most of banter. Miss banter with Buffalo. Hope he married that girl who also posted here. Sounded like perfect for him and his Mini Me daughter. (Oh my god, I do write telegram style! (Stop)
I am not a football fan but yeah Falcons!
Hi Great Idea! Sorry for not putting your name. Had a brain fart right then trying to remember names. There were so many great people (and a few rather not remember!!) I am not sure what telegram writing is but no need to explain.
And I agree about Nextdoor. Those two leads going at it and the obsession with garbage, homeless, that mental guy who hates women apparently, the police and our mayor. Does get tiresome.
Thanks. The seizures and attacking hard to watch. Twice I tried to stop the attack part and ended up in doctor’s office with pretty badly bitten thumb. She couldn’t help it as in seizure.my doc wanted me to wear super heavy gloves around her, which of course I didn’t.
I would love to see this forum come alive again. You, Penny, Buffalo, oldguy, Wahoo and the rest. BRING BACK THE FORUM FOLKS.
Miss Pickles, huh? Sure being sarcastic. BUT she is 4 now, still tiny, weighs 5#. Developed hyper sensitivity where would attack herself then seizure. Had horrific wounds from this. Then couple months ago injured and tongue swollen to where couldn’t eat, drink, total distress. New vet who saved her life. Was told would have to put her down if steroid shots didn’t work. Just hours before to bring her back to be put down her tongue went down and ok. And few weeks later the hyper sensitivity and seizures quit. She is still not happy with new addition..a year and half old dog who really wants to be pals.
see what happens when you mention Pickles. Bet sorry now!
I posted and will let you know if anyone finds it.
Might post this on Nextdoor. If you can’t, I can do for you.
Salmon Bay, I read that garbage about Mayor giving “secret” information. She needs to be monitored and not being one to censor. There is a guy who is very belligerent, argue all the time. I see his name and glaze over.
I still haven’t figured out which one is Compass Rose.
Vegan Biker, no, not me.
I joined and having second thoughts. Do like the informational ones, I.e., recommended services, sales, etc. But there are some snarky folks chiming in and the wendy whiners if you don’t agree. I was surprised to find out Vegan Biker a male. Always here enjoyed his posts. But man that Julie person sure has it in for him. She is very abrasive and annoying to read.
Compass Rose is on ND? Anyone care to share her real name?
From what I understand, in order to view what is going on in Nextdoor you have to be member.
So is that true? Is that how you folks here know what is being said, etc? So you are members too. Correct?
Great Idea, that trash on Leary has moved to street next to Jack In The Box. Every day he brings more and more stuff. Today pretty nice white couch and chair. Just wondering how he gets all that stuff there.it is encroaching on Jack In The Box property, right by drive thru. Also wonder why City allows that to continue.
Mondoman..the Ross in Ballard have the anti theft carts. The wheels lock and can’t move. Also Dollar Store on Aurora by Grocery Outlet and another store next to Dollar Store has anti theft. Seems the cost to get them would be worth it compared to theft costs. Just like when they finally caught on about anti theft on caps liquor bottles.
but in meantime glad there is someone retrieving them.06/30/2015 at 12:42 pm in reply to: Mayor Murray puts 2 out of 3 new homeless encampments in Ballard/Interbay #81268
I agree..WTF were they thinking. Oh yeah, they act first, maybe think later. Agree with tourists going to the Locks and Golden Gardens seeing this. Don’t know who owns “Ballard Lake”land by bridge but that land has sat undeveloped for years. It is huge and could contain lots of homeless. As it is that area is overran with transients, rv’s, etc. But then the businesses there impacted and coming over bridge first thing one would see.maybe not such hot idea. But we all who don’t agree have to contact mayor (can’t stand him) and City Council. Hey Mayor instead of wasting $200,000 of our money on rainbow sidewalks (most ridiculous thing) how about using that money for food banks, housing. I never thought I would leave Ballard but thinking about it.
The one I am referring to I believe cat’s name is James. The flyers are 8×11. Hope it is him.
NoraBell, on 65th and 32nd nw there is a poster about a lost gray cat. There is also one about 3 legged gray cat. Missing gray cat is from the area.
How about all the vacant spaces already in Ballard? Everywhere you look more buildings going up. Ballard is losing its feeling. Wish could retain some of its flavor. Thankfully part where I live not affected. Still older homes, big homes with character..not a flat top box. I know I am talking about condos vs office space but there are many new business spaces not filled also.
Compass Rose..while you may not like food, building a lot of people go there. Denny’s was an eyesore and their food not my cup of tea. But many senior citizens and such met there every day to talk with someone or have a reasonable priced place to eat. Can’t find that now. Same with bowling alley.
and now there will be unemployed people from Burger King and Shell
Angeline, there were couple of trucks with filming equipment, several people..not kids. The street around that house had no parking due to filming. Wish friend I knew still in Seattle. She dealt with this here arranging security, etc.
