It’s changed for sure. It’s not as sleepy as it once was. All of my old neighbors that lived in their houses for decades have passed away and young couples have moved in. We don’t get any construction near our house, but there certainly is plenty going on. Just ten years ago we had few restaurants to go to, Madame K’s, Lombardi’s, Le Gourmand, Ray’s. I love all the new restaurants and the weekly Farmer’s Market. I love all the new greenways and the parts of the Burke Gilman Trail that have been improved. It’s easy now to bike anywhere in Ballard, there are now bike racks everywhere. There have been homeless people in Ballard for ever. I remember one guy from the 70s who used to hang out under the Ballard Bridge, back when there were brick planter boxes by the sidewalk. He would plant flowers and tend the garden and panhandle. There have always been some car campers by the bridge and in the industrial areas. There have always been homeless in the libraries too. The petty crime and car prowls seem to be the same as they’ve been for the last several decades, except they don’t seem to be targeting car stereos anymore. Smash and grab now.
Ballard’s great and thriving now. Loads of new people, restaurants and shops. I just wish the city would replace the Ballard Bridge and make it safe for all users. Maybe a high rise so it wouldn’t have to open so often, with bike lanes and big sidewalks.

Gracie, I think there are a few like that. Always whining about Mike O’Brien and the mayor and the homeless. One in particular guy was also stalking and harassing Erica C. Barnett, she blocked him from her twitter and blog. T

Haha, now Compass Rose has changed her profile here to Anonymous. As if. At least she hardly posts on Nextdoor anymore. And Avril the lead continues her ludicrous “the developers and the mayor are all in cahoots and out to get me” shtick. She posted some impossible story some developer “told her over the phone” about how the mayor’s office gives him secret information because he donated to the election campaign and the mayor is trying to get people to sell their homes by allowing homeless drug addicts to thrive. She was deleting people’s posts to make her story look better and then I think she finally deleted the thread herself. Unless Nextdoor did it after several people complained to them. Without Avril and Compass Rose and a few other wingnuts, Nextdoor would be downright pleasant and valuable.

Welcome followers of Erica C. Barnett! Yes, it’s been a fun conversation about our favorite local NIMBY whiners!

JM98107, yes, don’t waste your time here. Buh bye. BTW, I liked your old drunk troll avatar. It was so much more fitting.

Great comments from the two most childish posters on here! CR, I thought you didn’t post here because nobody likes you. You now have the Nextdoor sandbox to play in with your pal the toxic lead. It is great to see you get called out all the time on Nextdoor for your bigotry, hatefulness and your constant whining about how Ballard is at the breaking point, under siege, Armageddon is surely here, life is horrible, you’re sick and tired of it. Sheesh, talk about childish. Here’s some advice, try to see the good things in life.

Oh, ouch, that really hurts, coming from the most despised person on this site and on Nextdoor. Well, to be fair, you may be the second most despised person on Nextdoor, right after your buddy Avril.

haha, now someone is calling out Compass Rose on ND, letting everyone know that the cops are familiar with her and that she’s a pain in their sides and “willfully spreading falsehoods”. Go figure…

Well, in the cosmopolitan region of Ballard, ND drama mostly revolves around Compass Rose now. When she posts that Ballard is under siege and the apocalypse has arrived, the drama starts, she attacks people and the leads have to pop in to try to cool it off. When she doesn’t post, it’s cats, dogs, free items, for sale, gardening and the occasional “everyone who isn’t like me is suspicious” posting. At least the toxic “Lead” doesn’t post much anymore. I’m sure the ND people had to give her some strong direction.

GI, I think the flagging feature isn’t available on the mobile app. If you’re on a computer, you should see it.

I agree with GAM, no overt outing here.
VB, you might find this article interesting, especially the picture captions.

And Compass Rose today started yet another post on ND about how sick and tired she is of Ballard, Ballard “is under siege”, the sky is falling and the world is ending…

Nextdoor has been remarkably drama free without The “Lead”, Compass Rose and Julie Albright posting. Much less #hysteria, #gaslighting, #scolding. It seems almost pleasant now!

Avril is back out of the penalty box in all her glory. Her life as she knows it is over because they are building Nextdoor to her ( I had to!). On her own thread with 20 posts to whine about it, 10 of them are by her.
I’ll bet the catfighting is about to start again. It is a new moon tomorrow….

I thought a post may have been removed that would explain her vitriol. I guess the only explanation is this forum thread you started? Who knows, there is a lot of emotion on Nextdoor…

Vegan Biker, why is Julie Albright obsessed with you? What did you do to set her crankiness off? I guess it doesn’t take much, she’s generally very disagreeable.

It looks like Avril is on a Nextdoor time out and Compass Rose has toned it down quite a bit. Nobody talking about Erica Barnett because those two aren’t. LMFAO about ND. It really is just the same stupidity over and over and over again.

Nextdoor is a sh*t show. Avril the lead is highly biased, unfair with moderation and just a negative bitter person. I saw her post some crazy stuff late Friday night, calling Mayor Murray supporters azzholes. She deleted it, but someone took a screen shot and reposted it. She deleted that too, and left a rambling post about how she’s close to AARP age and gets confused sometimes between her email and Nextdoor. So a nice ageist insult too. It appeared as if she was drunk.
Someone else called Deborah Bach out about her activity on My Ballard, and she denied it. LOL.
The whole Erica Barnett drama is funny. Total cat fight. Just like the cat fight that seemed to be going on this weekend on Nextdoor.
Paranoia really rules that site. #hysteria

I read on Nextdoor they’re closing because of all the homeless people in Ballard, Mike O’Brien and the mayor, the package thieves and people peeing in public.

Chief O’Toole responded on Nextdoor, noting that most of the people commenting on Nextdoor requested that SPD focus their efforts on nuisance property crime, the unsightliness of people camping and living in RVs and the slow response time to 911 calls regarding someone suspiciously walking down the sidewalk or parking in their neighborhood.

Meanwhile, in the real world, twenty people were killed in traffic fatalities on Seattle streets last year and 130 were seriously injured. I would strongly urge the SPD to focus their efforts and resources on public safety and make travelling around Seattle safer. Traffic enforcement would be a godsend.

Oh Compass Rose, full of piss and vinegar, hate and vitriol. All delivered with a gutter mouth. Yes, I have a very good idea what kind of a person you are.

You criticize the city claiming that they don’t have a transparent selection process, and then you align yourself with the corrupt Ballard Chamber of Commerce, whose hypocritical back room dealings you have no criticism for. You spend your time obstructing progress and feel you are “address(ing) this issue in a meaningful way”.

Not that it is any of your business, but I will be attending the fundraiser for LIHI in a couple of weeks. I’ve purchased a table of twelve. I will be joining hundreds of likeminded individuals to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to support low income housing. I am pretty certain that I personally will be donating that night much more to this cause than you will in your entire life.

    Goodbye.

I meant singular, as in Compass Rose singularly and specifically, and I think you would agree.

Wherever the postal box goes, it should be in a place that someone can drive up to it to make deposits from the driver’s side window WITHOUT driving the wrong was on the other side of the street.
