polywave – right now in Ballard there are porta potties at almost every construction site, I know because being a 70 YO I often need to go.
I am surprised that PSE doesn’t do what Metro/K.C. does for bus drivers, they have agreements with stores and businesses along bus routes to allow the drivers to take a bathroom break, or at least they did back when I was working for Metro.
Edog – I miss your posts!
It is interesting that this site faded away. I am curious about why that happened. I think I remember that there was some problem with the site and then that got fixed but about the same time Nextdoor started up and suddenly almost nobody was posting on MyBallard. There was a lot of trolling and i am sure a lot of hacking going on on MyBallard and things changed, but it is still interesting to me why some of the frequent posters on MB stopped posting and as far as I can tell never started posting on ND?
I like to post on ND and enjoy the interactions on the various topics. But I am still interested in why this Forum is basically ignored now?
Hi GAM – it is only a matter of time before all of this area will change.
Yes it works! Maybe more people will start posting here again!
Hi Ho Silver! Long time no see.
Happy holidays to one and all.02/11/2017 at 9:45 am in reply to: Do you think Ballard is worst now than it was 20 years ago? #85104
waughoutwoud – what was your “old” name on here?
I was trying to get more people to post here hence the possibly silly question in original post.02/09/2017 at 9:51 am in reply to: Do you think Ballard is worst now than it was 20 years ago? #85071
Great, this topic got a few of you back here. Hi pennygirl! And Edog!
IAnd the homeless issue is on a lot of peoples minds I see. I do remember when I lived up at 80th and 31st in the 90s that there were a number of encampments below the bluff at 80th. I used to walk my dog down there often and there were a number of small trails the let to camps down there. I notice that there are tents there now and you can see them from the Little Cony place if you look up at the hill side.
As for crime, well I remember in the 80s when I lived on 77th and 14th I had my house broken into by smashing a window and also my car was broken into by smashing the back window!
Things in Ballard were a lot slower 20 years ago but there were some homeless and there waas crime, but it has increased in the last few years dramatically.
I also used to know almost everyone in the neighborhood at least by sight, now I know very few of the people on the streets around my home near Adams school, and most of them do not even want to make eye contact.
It is a changing world that is for sure.
JM – what are the speed that you are getting?
JM98107 – I agree. This whole thing is very disturbing.
Go Falcons! Patriots are too involved with Der PumpkinFuhrer.
And FWIW, on MyBallard we can probably talk about the crazy guy that is now the supposed POTUS!
Haha – 10 years old! A lot has changed in that time. This forum has basically been abandoned. It used to be a lot of fun to come here and play but that all changed.
Ah well RIP to the old MyBallard Forum.
The main page does try to keep up with the latest Ballard news and that is good.
I hope all the old participants are still out there and doing well. All the best to you in this new world we have.
Monorail Driver – I heard it and felt it again!
Are you still driving the monorail?
gi – that is an interesting thread! I liked that the former owner added the real perspective to it all. She did mention that they didn’t want to spend $400K or more to upgrade the home, and they apparently spent a lot on it after they bought it. Given the circumstances I think I would have done the same. They have kids and they could use that money for education purposes etc. So I think they did the right thing. The poor guy to the north of the house on 20th is going to have an unfortunate view when they get done, I bet he sells soon after.
The thing is as I see it, any house south of 65th, east of 28th and west of 14th is ripe for being bought by a developer and demolished then replaced by one or more 3 story homes, so anyone buying in that area should be aware of that before they buy.
Are you human?
“A picture is worth a thousand words”
GAM – you are correct and now I can’t edit or remove that message! Darn.
So Salmon Bay are you saying that Deborah Bach is Compass Rose on MB?
gi – yes you can still “flag” a post on ND, I just checked and the option is still there but I didn’t “flag” anything so I am not sure that it works but it is still an option.
NWCitizen, alive and kicking! And most of the time I can remember my password for this site! :)
Edog – that is true!
Gracie – I thought you knew that I was the “old” guy that used to give away maps and bike info down at the Sunday Ballard Farmers Market! I thought I met you once down there? Maybe not!
Miss Wahoo – now I want to know your “reasons” :)
I’ll be howling at the full moon on the 20th!
Salmon Bay – darn if I know what got her going, she referenced “vegan biker” in 2 posts! I think maybe she is not bike friendly?
She is very outspoken on the forum!
Hello PG, glad to see that you are still checking MB.
Every now and then someone tries to resuscitate this site. :)
ironymaiden – I have also found the ND site to be very useful looking for things that have happened in the area and keeping track of all the campers and trash along the trails. The idea of ND is really a great tool for the neighborhood and I hope it works out and is not polluted by trolls and nasty people.
gracie – to become a member of ND you have to use your real name and give the system your real address etc. it is all legit and above board however the crazy people still rant and rave only now you have an idea of who they are. :)
GI – you are welcome! And I hope ND lasts as long or longer than MB.
