Norse Home celebrates 60 years of service to the community

Norse Home (5311 Phinney Ave N) is celebrating the amazing milestone of 60 years of service to the community this year and is inviting the community to take part in the festivities.

A reflection on the opening from the Norse Home team:

Photographer flash bulbs popped, as Washington state governor Albert Rosellini exited his vehicle, strolling to the podium positioned adjacent to a recently secured dedication plate that read “June 17th, 1957.” Champagne glasses were topped off, as a lively and resounding wave of applause echoed through the crowd of well dressed representatives from the Norwegian community, and the surrounding Seattle neighborhoods. Ribbon cut, the doors to the building opened, ushering in a new era of compassionate care.

“For sixty years, Norse Home has stood atop Phinney Ridge, setting the standard for dignified aging, in a non-profit setting. Offering unrivaled care to Ballard’s Norwegian community and beyond, Norse Home celebrates unmatched traditions of caring and compassion,” says the Norse Home team.

Locals are invited to join the team, sixty years to the day, on June 17, as they celebrate their achievements of the past, and look forward to the successes of the future.

The celebration will kick off at 2 p.m. with an open house accompanied by the traditional Norwegian tunes of Seattle band Skandia Kapell. The remainder of the afternoon will comprise of cake, the Norwegian Ladies Chorus, the Norwegian Male Chorus and a special ceremony featuring our Board of Directors President.

Attendees will also have a chance to enjoy an art show featuring the work of Norse Home residents, a presentation of our history, a photo booth, and many more surprises!

A salmon barbecue dinner will start at 5 p.m. with tickets available for $25.00. Join us for an unforgettable evening!
