Tonight’s Ballard-Interbay transit meeting cancelled for weather

Tonight’s meeting to discuss transit improvements for Ballard and Interbay has been cancelled.

“Due to inclement weather and our interest in keeping everyone safe, we are cancelling the January 14th and 15th Ballard-Interbay Regional Transportation System meetings,” SDOT posted on Twitter.

SDOT had scheduled the meeting to discuss the study known as BIRT — the Ballard-Interbay Regional Transportation System — which is meant to improve mobility for people and freight. Last year, the Washington State legislature allocated funds for the project, which encompasses the Ballard light rail extension and Magnolia and Ballard bridge reconstructions.

SDOT will pick a new date once they can secure a meeting space for sometime in early February — we’ll update when we know more.
