Spice Waala opens today in Ballard

Ballard gains an Indian restaurant today: Spice Waala is opening today in the former Boar’s Nest location (2008 NW 56th St).

This is the second Spice Waala location for owners Aakanksha Sinha and Uttam Mukherjee—they opened their first location in Capitol Hill in 2019.

Spice Waala will be open for lunch and dinner starting today, Friday, Jan 8. As an opening special, they’ll be giving away a free meal to the first person in line for lunch and dinner both today and tomorrow, plus some free Spice Waala merchandise. The next 20 people in line will get free 6-ounce sauces such as their green chutney, or a free mango lassi.

All guests today and tomorrow will also get complimentary Kheer, an Indian rice pudding, because it’s custom in Indian culture to give something sweet to people during a celebration.

The Ballard location will have the same menu as their Cap Hill restaurant, and will be open for take-out from 11am to 2:30pm for lunch; their dinner hours will be 5pm to 9pm.
